I've had the same experience with tM not being fond of Lugh, and it's kept me from having a very strong relationship with her, because he's the deity I like to describe as my spiritual drinking buddy. Don't get me wrong--I can work with her, but she's more like a supervisor than like part of the family the way other gods in my practice are.

I actually have the same thing, though in opposite -- tM owns me, and I've had no progress in forging a deeper connection with Lugh. I've pretty much given up -- since Lughnasadh last year, when He was very present as I priestessed, I've had...nada. I think I'm just going to stick to honouring Him at His festival -- He seems receptive to that, but not to anything beyond it.

I've noticed that some folks find their work with Brighid to be complemented through work with another deity - and I've also noticed that some deities seem to be more common complements to Brighid.

Like Juni and SunflowerP, I work with a personal thematic pantheon, so any of my deities could work with any others. I have noticed that my Brighid shifts seem to also involve honoring other deities. (This morning I cleaned Djehuty's shrine and offered to Him, for example.) One of the more common linkages for me is Brighid and Scathach, and sometimes also Brighid and Wepwawet, partially because I'm closest to Him and honor Him quite a lot. When I was making my pantheon prayer beads, I got the sense that Brighid's and Odin's beads should be next to each other, which helped me understand Odin a little better.

(For example, I seem to know a lot of people who view their work with Hekate or tM intertwined with that of Brighid.) Do you find this to be the case? Is there some sense of "balance" in working with deities in addition to Brighid?

Though I haven't explored too much, I'm finding interesting connection points between Brighid and Manannan. The fire/water and conscious/subconscious dualities are really interesting to me. (That is, I see Brighid as a goddess of conscious thought, logic, rationality, and closer to civilization than nature, whereas Manannan is more about dreams and the uncontrollable stormy sea of emotions. But not as clean-cut as that.)

Just my UPG, but I received a message in meditation from Hecate several months ago that I would be working with the Celts when spring came around. A couple of weeks ago, started hearing a bunch of crow calls, and The Morrigan came into my life. So it does not surprise me that you're working with Hecate/Brighid.

Micheál, a question for you:  One of my connection-failure issues with Lugh seems to have involved tM not caring much for him.  D'you have any info - lore or UPG - that might be relevant to that?  (That's not restricted to Micheál; if others know something relevant, I'd be happy to hear it, but it seems right up Micheál's alley so I've directed it to him in particular.)

I definitely have a UPG thing about tM and Lugh not liking each other. A thing came up on one of the ADF mailing lists once about this guy thinking tM was the same as Bloddeuwedd, the wife of Lugh (which, no, wife of Llew Llaw Gyffes, but there's overlap between the two). So I ran it by them. I got an are you fucking kidding from both.

A while back, I was looking through a mythology encyclopedia and came across the Morrigan's entry in the Celtic section and felt a noticeable "NO" vibe during that moment. I still wonder if that was Lugh giving me his two cents or not.

and that's how I got to know Freyr [I was already acquainted with Freyja].)

Sunflower

Speaking of Brighid and other deity, this is how I got to know Freyja. I was trying to reach out to Brighid and in no uncertain, unmistakable or confusing terms was redirected to Freyja. It struck me as very odd at the time. Since then I have tried to seek out Brighid and been redirected as well. Every time it has been very very clear. (I add that as I am usually very skeptical about such things)
Really?  So, hey, want to go fishing?  I\'ve got a telescope, and it\'s going to be a dark night, so we should see the fish really well.
...what, I\'m not talking about fishing?  That\'s stargazing?  It\'s all doing-stuff, so it\'s the same thing, right?
