Cauldron Cill Roster

Huh. Somehow my Google calendar had gotten off by a day. It showed all my shifts starting 1 day after your roster shows them. That's weird. And disconcerting.

Good thing I double check regularly.

That is weird. That could be my error; I can easily see myself inadvertently putting the start date of a roster as the last day of the previous one, rather than the day after. Alternately, it might be the result of shifts running from sunset to sunset - the roster in this thread shows the date they start on, but possibly GCalendar is now showing them by the date on which the bulk of the shift takes place.

It's been several years since I had anything to do with the GCalendar; Juni took that over at some point (maybe when I was struggling after my marital breakdown?), and IIRC Finn took it on for a while after Juni left.

If you have access to do so, a device that will cooperate, and the spoons and time, it'd be great if you could re-synch the GCalendar (I'm quite certain that at one time it also showed shifts on the day they began, because we'd found this to be preferable for Flametenders to be able to see when to start their shifts).

If not - any volunteers from the rest of the Cill willing and able to take on management of the Google Calendar? It wouldn't entail much work, since it's set up to mostly post shifts automatically; the job would involve only checking regularly (every shift cycle is good, but less often would be fine too) for anomalies, editing when there's a change in who's keeping what shift, and, optionally, adding the Group Keepings (which I think there isn't a way to automate, but a volunteer who felt motivated would be welcome to try to figure out if there is).

Thanks for noticing this and mentioning it, Aster!

On my personal calendar, I have my cill shifts set to display over both days (the start and end days). I keep my TC shifts and my Clann Bhríde shifts the same way.

But one of my TC shifts coincided with my CB shift, and the CB shift is still accurate. That is, those 2 shifts no longer fall on the same day, but my CB shift still aligns with the CB calendar.

So, I don't think G-cal made any changes, but who knows. I think the TC schedule might have gotten off sometime recently. It's been a couple of months since I checked my calendar against the TC schedule.

I could deal with the TC g-calendar, but I'd need login info for the associated Gmail account. Do we have that? I'm not even sure where the TC calendar lives anymore.

If you don't have the login info, we could set up a new one. Can we embed calendars on the TC site?

I manage CB's cill calendar, so it would be easy to manage TC's too. On the CB calendar, I do show the shift on the day it begins, so that's the same as we do it here.

Just to make sure I'm following, does the roster as posted here still show your shift on the same day as the CB shift it's supposed to coincide with? (I remember you set them up to coincide on purpose - which is quite handy now in making the discrepancy easier to spot.)

I manage CB's cill calendar, so it would be easy to manage TC's too. On the CB calendar, I do show the shift on the day it begins, so that's the same as we do it here.

It lives here. IIRC, logins were each from our (Juni's, Finn's, my) Google accounts, with each account authorized to edit the calendar. I don't recall whether your account was also authorized, though it seems a likely thing for us to have done.

Check and see if you can edit; if not, I'll see if I can figure out how to authorize you. If neither works, I'll get in touch with Juni and see if she can tell me what to do, or even do it herself if she still has access (I didn't remove her authorization, so unless she did so herself she probably still does).

If all else fails, setting up a new one is the way to go. I'd be tempted to just do so anyway, since the current one needs quite a bit of cleanup, but I also know that Karen is reliant on the GCal - this GCal - to keep her shifts, and she's notoriously hard to get hold of to notify her of a change, so I feel it's worth the effort to maintain continuity if possible.

I definitely appreciate you being able to take it on; I really should have talked to you about you doing so when Finn left the TC Cill :-[.

This cycle includes the southern solstice, at 1003 hrs UT/0303 hrs 21 Dec MST; Group Keeping will be from sunset (your local time) 20 Dec to sunset 21 Dec. As is often the case, we're in synch with TC's Up All Night solstice tradition.

This cycle also includes the Cill's fourteenth anniversary - the very first shift ever for the Cauldron Cill began at sunset on 3 Jan '07. There will be an anniversary thread as usual, which will go up shortly before then (post celebratory/congrats stuff there, once it's up, not here), and that's also when our annual check-in will begin (there'll be a thread for that in our private board). There will also be Group Keeping for our anniversary, from sunset 3 Jan to sunset 4 Jan your local time; as always with Group Keeping, you can participate for as much or as little of it as you want/are able.

20. Mar 28: The Lady

As often happens after check-in time, we have a vacant shift. Unless Chatelaine, Rocquelaire, or Karen (the three Flametenders who aren't yet covering two shifts) particularly want it, or unless someone reeeeeeeeeally wants a third shift, I'll be taking it - since it's exactly half a cycle from my own permanent shift, it seems appropriate.

This cycle includes the northward equinox (spring in the northern hemisphere, fall in the southern), on 20 Mar at 0937 hrs UT/0337 hrs MDT; Group Keeping will be from sunset your local time 19 Mar to sunset 20 Mar.

I'm willing to cover it, if you'd rather not. Since it's right after my first shift, it wouldn't be hard.

I know I'm already covering a couple (and I have a shift in the Clann Bhríde Cill), but I'd be happy to do it, so you don't have to.
