* "Unable to verify referring url. Please go back and try again" Problem Logging In?

If you get an "Unable to verify referring url. Please go back and try again" error when you try to log in, you need to be sure you are accessing the board with a url that starts with "".  If it starts with" (or "") you will get this error because "" is not technically the same website as "". Moving to the more secure "https" means it is more picky about such things.

If you have upgraded to Firefox 22 and are unlucky, you may be getting a pair of javascript error popups on every web page you load if the web site you are visiting uses Facebook Connect. I got those this morning when I updated and temporarily turned off Facebook Connect here at TC and downgraded to FireFox 21, when I could not find anything on this on the web.

I've just now found where someone described the problem and its fix.  The problem is apparently caused by a change in the way Firefox handles cookies, but is easy to fix.

First, be sure all your extensions are up to date -- especially any Facebook oriented extensions. (I checked and mine were all up to date).

Second, go to Options | Privacy and click on the "remove individual cookies" link in the center of the dialog box. A new dialog listing all your cookies will appear. Remove any and all related to Facebook. Search for "facebook", including those on sites other than facebook.  (Actually, all I had to delete was the third party site facebook cookies that showed up on the search -- I left the actual facebook cookies alone).

Third, restart your browser.

That did it for me. Firefox 22 now works without throwing up two javascript error boxes on every page that tries to use the Facebook Connect API. Apparently this only happens if some third party site set the wrong type of cookie and set it ages ago. That is, you haven't been back to the site that set the cookie since Facebook changed how this was stored. The bad cookie(s) corrupts the whole process somehow.
