Lifetime companion...
Where have you gone?
I thought that your place was at my side forever,
Your warmth beside me in my bed.
Now I find myself watching for you
Hearing a noise at the door ....
But only finding empty air and memories.
Funny ... it is the things I hated
That I find I miss the most.
I find myself saving tidbits
But how do you feed a spirit?
I remind myself of cycles;
That death is a beginning ...
And never an ending ...
But I am only too aware
I am barren and alone.

Oh, where have you gone?
Is that your touch brushing by?
Or will you live within me ...
Until that day that we meet again.
Oh, lifetime companion....

I don't know of any poetry written for or by Marilyn (which might be a fault of my memory, rather than that there is none) but her story "The Washer at the Laundromat" is not inappropriate here.  All three of those we remember today was, each in her own way, a warrior.

I couldn't find a lighter (there's one in my room, but I'm avoiding the construction area in the hallway) so I have three battery-powered tea lights going.  I figured they wouldn't mind much.

I have one of hers hanging on my dining room wall:

It is untitled. She left it as a comment in a thread here. It spoke to me at all ages. It helped me. So I asked her if I could use it in a painting and she very kindly obliged. She wrote that she sometimes left little things like this around the net. How awesome is that?! What a wonderful person.

Absent is present in my mind each morning when I see that poem.

Lyric and I had a candle burning from mid-morning until 10pm last night. This is hard every year, but it is particularly hard in years when we have just lost long time friends from TC.
