A combination of _Carpe Jugulum_ and perhaps _Witches Abroad_ would be a good way to go with that.  They both cover a lot of Granny's problem-solving, basic magical theory, and effectiveness.  (The voodoo doll scene in WA is an excellent example, actually.)

Ack!  More suggestions!  Oh, well.  I knew what I was getting into when I requested ONE Discworld book.

Thank you for the reminders of the library (my schedule is weird so I forget sometimes that not everything in my town closes at 5).  And also about Amazon used books, though now I'm torn between saving $ and supporting local economy.

Eeep! ButwaitGrannydidn'tevensayheadologyIcheckednow she said "per-si-cology"! :stop:

I just read Equal Rites and she did in fact talk about headology (and say the word) a number of times. I wonder if it is a version difference? I read it on Kindle.

I, uh... checked with a friend *hangs head* fellow rabid Discworld fan, who was very convinced that headology was first mentioned when the Lancre coven came together.

If I remember correctly 'persicology' was the first term and 'headology' later replaced it.

Well, Equal Rites is the only Discworld book I've read, so I know I'm not confusing it with another. Also, I looked it up, and it's in there multiple times. So I'm guessing an update was made in the Kindle version from the print books.
