Looking for books re. hedge witchery
« on: August 24, 2011, 04:35:17 am »
Can anyone advise?

Would love something for the Kindle but all that I can find is the following two...

The Way of the Hedge Witch by Arin Murphy-Hiscock
and
One Pot Witchery - Stone Soup - The Hidden Grimiore of the Kitchen Hedge Witch (One Pot Witchery - Stone Soup: The Hidden Grimoire of the Kitchen Hedge Witch) by Barbara Ann

Are these any good?

Is there anything else anyone would recommend in either Kindle or paper copy??

Many thanks

As far as Hedge Witchery is concerned, most any good resources on Shamanic methods would be hitting pretty close to the mark, as the lines between Shamanism and Hedge Witchery are pretty blurred in my opinion. I do know of "Natural Witchcraft" by Marion Green, and "Natural Magick" by Doreen Valiente, and while I don't personally own either title, I have heard good things about them both. All in all, I think that any book on natural magic and herbalism would probably be helpful here.

Hedge Witchery was though to be European Shamantic practice by some authors.  Don't recall the author now but the premise was that Hedge Witchery as a name was real common in the hedgerow country of France where the Hedges seperated the known from the unknown.  Possibly going back to some form of reference to the Green Man or Wild Man stories of Europe and Britian though that was speculation from what I recall.

The only warning I'd add to book references is that many Shaman type books today are filled with as much white light and fluffy as many of the Witchcraft / general pagan books on the market.  That and a lot of UPG from the author or a little of this and a little of that merged together and calling it some form of shamanism.

I have two Arin Murphy-Hiscock books, way of the hedge witch and way of the green witch.
I highly recommend them and i enjoyed reading them.

I'm fond of the works of Rae Beth and Poppy Palin.  Ann Moura is a green witch, but her work is applicable for hedge witches too.

Good luck to you!!!
