2019 Donation Drive

It's time for our annual Server Donation Drive! We need to raise at least $650 (same as last year) to keep The Cauldron's server online for another year. Please help! Either hit that Paypal button to the right and make a one-time donation in any amount or set up a monthly Bronze, Silver or Gold Donor subscription. You can find more info in this message!

Donations as of 16 Sept 2019: $660 donated. $10 more our minimum goal! Let's beat last year's total of $99 more than the minimum!

Note: This total is updated manually, usually once a day

* "Unable to verify referring url. Please go back and try again" Problem Logging In?

If you get an "Unable to verify referring url. Please go back and try again" error when you try to log in, you need to be sure you are accessing the board with a url that starts with "https://ecauldron.com".  If it starts with https://www.ecauldron.com" (or "http://www.ecauldron.com") you will get this error because "www.ecauldron.com" is not technically the same website as "ecauldron.com". Moving to the more secure "https" means it is more picky about such things.

Websites for identification of crystals?
« on: May 24, 2019, 06:26:44 pm »
So I'm likely to be stemming my collection of crystals for a while (following this thread https://ecauldron.com/forum/the-divinatory-arts/question-about-crystals/msg221616/#msg221616) but I've got a few dozen, already.

A handful were purchased at odd times and for whatever reason I failed to note down, at the time, what they were -- so does anyone know of any good websites as resources for identifying crystals/stones?

I've got a couple of booklets, but still pictures are not always the best for comparison - I'm wondering if there's anyplace which contains more 3D images which might prove easier to get a reliable identification.

Thanks in advance.

I haven't seen a book or website that really stands out from the rest. I learned what I know mostly through exposure. It takes longer, but is less confusing. I did one time have a really nice slice of bloodstone. I had it for years when suddenly it lost all of its red markings. I have never found out why.

They are all pretty much of a muchness I'm afraid. I had a handful of odd ones I was given and really struggled with some of them. I had to enlist the help of a gemmologist friend in the end and even then there were a couple we weren't 100% sure on.
