* "Unable to verify referring url. Please go back and try again" Problem Logging In?

If you get an "Unable to verify referring url. Please go back and try again" error when you try to log in, you need to be sure you are accessing the board with a url that starts with "https://ecauldron.com".  If it starts with https://www.ecauldron.com" (or "http://www.ecauldron.com") you will get this error because "www.ecauldron.com" is not technically the same website as "ecauldron.com". Moving to the more secure "https" means it is more picky about such things.

Devotionals
« on: August 18, 2013, 03:46:25 pm »
I am thinking about putting together a devotional. The last couple of years, I've seen a ton of these books, sometimes by a single author and sometimes an anthology, and all of varying quality. I really enjoy reading most of these, regardless of whether or not I'm devoted to the deity on question, and I've even submitted to a few.

What are the best devotionals you've come across? What do you think makes a good one?

And conversely, what makes a bad one? Any I should definitely avoid?

What are some examples? I'm honestly not sure what you are talking about as I don't think I've ever seen a devotional that wasn't Christian.

Just as an example: Neos Alexandria's imprint, Bibliotheca Alexandrina, has put out quite a few.

Caitlin Matthews published a Celtic Devotional, which is set up with daily, weekly, and seasonal prayers, observations, things to consider, etc., from a Celtic perspective.   I think it's really good and have used it for a while -- although I modify it a bit to reflect my personal needs.  I think the structure is very interesting and useable.  And definitely not Christian.   ;-)

Oops, sorry. Asphodel Press also published quite a few, in addition to those linked by Nyktipolos. They also have a Pagan Book of Days that's more in line with Aster's recommendation, and Ceiswr Serith (sp? I'm on my phone) has something along those lines as well.

Caitlin Matthews also has a Celtic book of days (don't remember the title right now but can find it if anyone is interested), but the devotional book is structured quite differently.  I don't think I'd describe it as a book of days

I recently acquired a copy of "Be Blessed:  Daily Devotions for Busy Wiccans and Pagans", by Denise Dumars.  It has a lot of great affirmations and brief prayers, as well as small magicks.  She rarely calls for an ingredient which is not readily available in most households.

I suspect many Christian prayers and devotions could be adapted, but I personally am not comfortable doing that.
