2019 Donation Drive

It's time for our annual Server Donation Drive! We need to raise at least $650 (same as last year) to keep The Cauldron's server online for another year. Please help! Either hit that Paypal button to the right and make a one-time donation in any amount or set up a monthly Bronze, Silver or Gold Donor subscription. You can find more info in this message!

Donations as of 16 Sept 2019: $660 donated. $10 more our minimum goal! Let's beat last year's total of $99 more than the minimum!

Note: This total is updated manually, usually once a day

* "Unable to verify referring url. Please go back and try again" Problem Logging In?

If you get an "Unable to verify referring url. Please go back and try again" error when you try to log in, you need to be sure you are accessing the board with a url that starts with "".  If it starts with" (or "") you will get this error because "" is not technically the same website as "". Moving to the more secure "https" means it is more picky about such things.

Seven Days in New Crete by Robert Graves
« on: January 22, 2013, 08:45:43 pm »
Has anyone read this book? It's a future-utopian novel that takes place on the island of Crete. The religion centers on the Triple Goddess (Nimue the maiden, Mari the mother, Ana the crone) and the rival twin male gods (star god of the waxing year and serpent god of the waning year). I find this interesting because this is very similar to modern neo-pagan religions, Feri in particular, which honours the Goddess and the dark and bright twin consorts, and even the names are the same ones Victor Anderson uses in his poetry. Robert Graves' poetic works have had a lot of influence on modern pagan religions, and I'm thinking this book might be an interesting one to read. I haven't read it myself yet, I was just wondering if anyone has anything to say about.

I have, a number of years ago. The American edition was called "Watch the North Wind Rise." The main thing I recall about it is that the poets are the elite class in their society, but each poet only gets twenty-five tablets to write his or her poems down on in a lifetime. So you have to be really, really picky about what you commit to writing.
