Hera Resources.
« on: December 15, 2013, 07:58:08 pm »
Either my google-fu is lacking or it's the virus on this laptop but I can't seem to find books or other literature about Hera. I've found the graphic novel that's out but I really don't see that as something I should be using for information. So any titles would be much loved!

Bibliotheca Alexandrina just came out with a devotional to Hera and Juno just this month.

And here is the information page about it:  http://neosalexandria.org/bibliotheca-alexandrina/current-titles/queen-of-olympos-a-devotional-anthology-for-hera-and-iuno/

Here is a link to the BA store:  https://www.createspace.com/4562657

Here is a link to Amazon:  http://www.amazon.com/Queen-Olympos-Devotional-Anthology-Edition/dp/149441919X/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1386777881&sr=8-2&keywords=Queen+of+Olympos
I am the Goddess of Who I can Become. I mix the magic of the sorceress with the blade of a warrior. I walk the liminal pathways to see the face of the Goddess, both terrible and kind. As She stares back at me, I tremble in awe and ecstasy.  --SatAset

Me and Theoi are good friends and while I love it I also need something that I can read and refer to when I'm not plugged into the net.

This book isn't easy to come by. It's not being sold anymore it seems. I had to get a copy via inter-library-loan with my public library. Most public libraries have deals with WorldCat and will be able to provide university copies for limited check out.
I have a PDF copy of it now, but haven't gotten around to reading it yet. Has quite a bit of info, though.

But here's this:
The Transformation of Hera - Joan V. O'Brien
You can read some of it in Google Book's preview: http://books.google.com/books/about/The_Transformation_of_Hera.html?id=a77yKM26GfYC

There's also:
Archetypal Images in Greek Religion: 5. Zeus and Hera: Archetypal Image of Father, Husband, and Wife - Carl Kerenyi

Also, if you search Google Books for "Hera" and look around at what you can read in the preview, you might be surprised how much info is available ;)

Hope this helps! :)

I'm expecting this book by the end of the week. Has anyone read it? What did you think?
