If you get an "Unable to verify referring url. Please go back and try again" error when you try to log in, you need to be sure you are accessing the board with a url that starts with "https://ecauldron.com".  If it starts with https://www.ecauldron.com" (or "http://www.ecauldron.com") you will get this error because "www.ecauldron.com" is not technically the same website as "ecauldron.com". Moving to the more secure "https" means it is more picky about such things.

Resources on spiritual purification/cleansing
« on: March 11, 2018, 08:29:16 pm »
After almost two years attempting to hold down a mystical practice and mostly succeeding, I'm still working on building cleansing and purification rituals into it. Does anyone know of good books or other resources that would help me accomplish this?

I'm not really looking for any one tradition's methods; I'm complicatedly eclectic and willing to branch out as necessary. However, it's worth noting that my practice is very ritually grounded in Judaism, despite its use of Hellenic Powers, so resources compatible with Jewish ideas of ritual cleanliness would be ideal.

Mikaharic's Spiritual Cleansing would be my top rec.  I will note that some of the spells include scriptural recitations but I think they're mostly from Psalms so still good for you.

Yeah, you recommended that one to me a while back and I gave it a shot. There's some useful info in it but for the most part I felt like I bounced off--I think perhaps there was too much in the way of recipes and "don't mess with the recipes" and not enough discussion of the underlying mechanics and how to adapt them to a different practice.

Most of my collected thoughts and recs are in the energetic self-care and removing old ties articles on Seeking, but I want to particularly call out the link to Brianna Saussy's article on sacred bathing, which has some particularly useful stuff on 'what might you add'.

I tend to be a big proponent of bathing as a method in general, as you might guess from the above :)

I’ve skimmed the sacred bathing article; I’ll take a closer look when I’m home, but it does look useful.

At the moment my purification practices just include a weekly ritual bath with baking soda, blue cleaning agent, a little bit of ginger, and a small quantity of seawater. I’m working on figuring out more details—e.g. what to do after the bath (anoint myself? How to dispose of the water ritually?) and what to do on a daily basis.

My understanding of how to conduct a ritual bath (and I've gotten this from a couple of tradition backgrounds) is that one don't towel off; a little patting to make it easier to dry naturally is okay, but basically scrubbing dry removes the magic coating.

I managed to pick up that much too.

It's kind of a pain to drip water all over, but I try to not completely towel off, at least.
