2019 Donation Drive

It's time for our annual Server Donation Drive! We need to raise at least $650 (same as last year) to keep The Cauldron's server online for another year. Please help! Either hit that Paypal button to the right and make a one-time donation in any amount or set up a monthly Bronze, Silver or Gold Donor subscription. You can find more info in this message!

Donations as of 13 Sept 2019: $656 donated. $6 more our minimum goal! Let's beat last year's total of $99 more than the minimum!

Note: This total is updated manually, usually once a day

* "Unable to verify referring url. Please go back and try again" Problem Logging In?

If you get an "Unable to verify referring url. Please go back and try again" error when you try to log in, you need to be sure you are accessing the board with a url that starts with "https://ecauldron.com".  If it starts with https://www.ecauldron.com" (or "http://www.ecauldron.com") you will get this error because "www.ecauldron.com" is not technically the same website as "ecauldron.com". Moving to the more secure "https" means it is more picky about such things.

Looking for multiple books, different genres
« on: May 25, 2013, 06:49:09 pm »
I'm looking for books that fall into a couple different categories. Lots of them, actually. I broke my ankle last night and now I feel like I need to take advantage of this time that they told me not to do anything strenuous, which consequently is my favorite type of activity. I guess it was meant to be, I need to spend more time reading. So these are the categories I've decided to delve into:

- Greek religion
- Egyptian religion
- Tarot (mostly you just find decks and the card definitions. I'd like to find books that go more in depth than that. Possibly history or maybe even some sort of theory? Maybe that's not possible. I just know I'm not satisfied with what I've found so far.)
- Traditional Witchcraft, History of Witchcraft...lots of the best basics on the craft, perhaps.

Book-wise, I've only read some of Cunningham's books on Wicca. Nearly all of my research has been done online, so I'm really looking to expand here. Thanks for your time!

Tarot:

78 Degrees of Wisdom, Tarot Wisdom, and The Forest of Souls: A Walk in the Tarot all by Rachel Pollack.

21 Ways to Read a Tarot Card by Mary K. Greer. She has also written two (I think) of the 'Special Topics in Tarot' series put out by Llewellyn - I have her book on reversals and quite enjoyed it. In that series I also have read Tarot Tips by Ruth Ann and Wald Amberstone, and enjoyed that one as well.

Professional Tarot by Christine Jette is good if you plan to get into tarot as more than something strictly personal. Even if you're not planning on going into business, it gives some good advice on handling clients. My mother enjoyed her Tarot Shadow Work book - the latter is much more about personal healing and psychology.

The books I'm always seeing recommended for Egyptian religion are:

  • Temple of the Cosmos by Jeremy Naydler
  • Red Land, Black Land by Barbara Mertz
  • Eternal Egypt by Richard Reidy
  • Go to authors are Wilkinson, Kemp, and Pinch - basically anything they've written will have good things in it.
Kaye | Pagan | Witch | Folklore Fiend
The Crow and the Hound
Walking Encyclopedia of Weirdness
