2019 Donation Drive

It's time for our annual Server Donation Drive! We need to raise at least $650 (same as last year) to keep The Cauldron's server online for another year. Please help! Either hit that Paypal button to the right and make a one-time donation in any amount or set up a monthly Bronze, Silver or Gold Donor subscription. You can find more info in this message!

Donations as of 16 Sept 2019: $660 donated. $10 more our minimum goal! Let's beat last year's total of $99 more than the minimum!

Note: This total is updated manually, usually once a day

* "Unable to verify referring url. Please go back and try again" Problem Logging In?

If you get an "Unable to verify referring url. Please go back and try again" error when you try to log in, you need to be sure you are accessing the board with a url that starts with "https://ecauldron.com".  If it starts with https://www.ecauldron.com" (or "http://www.ecauldron.com") you will get this error because "www.ecauldron.com" is not technically the same website as "ecauldron.com". Moving to the more secure "https" means it is more picky about such things.

I'm partial to either Tibetan singing bowls or Tibetan Buddhist monks' chants. Anything with more "rhythm" to it and I'm busy listening to the music, and not meditating. :-)

I really enjoy Loreena McKennitt or the LoTR soundtrack for meditation. That aside often I use shamanistic drumming.

I enjoy the soundtracks of natural noises (ie. crickets, frogs, rain, wind, thunder) if I can not be in the outdoors while I meditate.

I like something that is just drumming a lot of the time.  But anything that chills me out I've found helps too.

I don't meditate to music... it seems sort of contrary to the point of the exercise. But light trance goes well with anything by Gabrielle Roth and the Mirrors.

I like chanting, especially if it is in a language I don't understand (so I'm not tempted to chant along rather than concentrate on meditation).

Sacred Tibetan Chant is a special favourite, as well as Gregorian chant by the Silos Monks or Anonymous 4.

I don't generally meditate with music, but back when I was single and I had my stereo in my room, I used to like to relax and fall asleep with one of Gary Stadler's Fairy CDs. There are several in the collection, and are usually mostly just instrumental.

I usually meditate without music, but I've found brain entrainment music (music that uses binaural beats to affect brainwave functioning) to be very useful and healing. I particularly like Dr. Jeffrey Thompson's stuff and the various ones from Jupiter Productions.

I'm another music-less meditator, generally, but on rare occasion I'll use something from Laurie Anderson's avant garde body of work. Looping "Walking and Falling" from United States I-IV--also found on her Big Science album--is a fave.
The first song sets the wheel in motion / The second is a song of love / The third song tells of Her devotion / The fourth cries joy from the sky above
The fifth song binds our fate to silence / and bids us live each moment well / The sixth unleashes rage and violence / The seventh song has truth to tell
The last song echoes through the ages / to ask its question all night long / And close the circle on these pages / These, the metamythos songs

I'd like to give a shout-out for Joanne Shenandoah's Matriarch.  The CD contains her versions of women's songs/chants from her nation (Oneida), with some redubbing and accompaniment.

Amazon also puts out free, downloadable mp3s from upcoming artists on a rotating basis, and you can sometimes find real gems there. They once offered an entire downloadable CD of very relaxing reed flute music for free.

GAIA REPLYING:

Hi and Merry Meet, ZombyFrogg (great ID!)

Music is such a crucial and integral part of my spirituality that i cannot imagine being without it -- especially in meditation, ritual, etc.

Here are some suggestions that i hope you find helpful:

1.  First, a few specific recommendations from my favorites:

  a)  Loreena McKennit is not specifically Pagan (that i know of) but her music is frequently based on Pagan themes, and her voice and music are stunning.

  b)  Lisa Thiel is another great voice with specifically Wiccan/Pagan themes;

   c)  "Welcome to Annwyfn" is wonderful Pagan music and chants;

   d)  "Enchantress" by "Gypsy"  is wonderful Pagan music & chants by a great voice;

   e)  Cindee Grace's "Songs of the Goddess" is fantastic;

   f)  "On Wings of Song" is a wonderful group that does chants from all religions, and they have two great specifically Pagan CD's: "From the Goddess" with "O Great Spirit", and "Ancient Mother".

2.  And here's a  GENERAL LIST :

A. Pagan / Wiccan / Goddess Songs:

Ruth Barret & Felictiy Flowers. "Invocation to Free Women"., etc.
Grace, Cindee. "Songs of the Goddess".
Gypsy. "Enchantress".
Pennderwen, Gwydion. "Songs of the Old Religion".
Thiel, Lisa. "Prayers for the Planet", Rising of the Phoenix, etc.
Williams, Anne. "Song of the Jaguar", "Song of Isis", etc.
Alan, Todd & Friends. "Carry Me Home".
Kenny Klein, anything.

B. Meditation / Trance Journeying:

Bearns & Dexter. "Golden Voyage", Vols 1-5.
Crutcher, Rusty. "Macchu Picchu Impressions".
Demby, Constance. "Set Free", "Novas Magnificat", etc.
Evenson, Dean. "Desert Moon Song", "Lifestreams", etc.
Gardner, Kay. "Garden of Ecstasy", "Rainbow Path", etc.
Gordon, David & Steve. "Garden of Serenity" , "River of Songs", etc.
Lange, David. "Return of the Comet".

Hamouris, Deborah & Rick. "Welcome to Annwyfn".
