Did you already try the SIG?  https://ecauldron.com/forum/hazel-and-oak-a-celtic-polytheism-sig/

I think I started reading a book about celtic religion which I'd downloaded on our Kindle (though it's been a while since I read any of it).  When I get a bit further in I'll let you know if I feel like it's any good for a beginner (which is what I am, too).  It'll be an old title, though, because I don't have a lot of funds to splash out on newer resources.

I haven't actually 😂 probably a good place to start

That'd be really cool, thanks. It's pretty sweet meeting a fellow beginner, sometimes I feel like everyones ahead of me & i'm running to catch up. So it's cool to meet someone who's in a similar place to me.
I'm a sucker for old books, so sounds pretty good to me. Besides, I recently bought some modern stuff and it was pretty naff. 😅

My go to group for a lot of Celtic stuff is ADF. They have a reading list for various cultures, but especially for Celtic paganism.

https://www.adf.org/training/resources/reading.html

Their list includes The Tain, The Mabinogi, and “Pagan Celtic Britain” by Anne Ross.

That list is looking a little dated now for the Welsh sources anyway.  Ford's translation of the Mabinogion (as it is much more commonly known as, even if a double plural!)  was academically much more accurate than Charlotte Guest's but he chose to sacrifice the magic and readability of what were oral tales for the sake of an academic translation. They may be accurate but he makes them deadly dull.  Translating the sense and word play of the  Welsh to English is not  easy and a lot, as they say, is lost in translation!

There have been more attempts since, the best so far of which is from Sinead Davies. It's academically accurate but she has also managed to capture the poetry and sense of the original Welsh.

Professor Ronald Hutton has also written some acclaimed books on the Druids and what we know and don't know about them. "Blood and Mistletoe"  is somewhat heavy going at times but his "Druids" covers much of the same ground and is written for a less academic audience.

This is useful for me to know, too - thanks

I didn't see this site suggested https://www.druidry.org/druid-way/druid-beliefs but it has a lovely quick reference library and lots of interesting bits to peruse

Wishing you laughter

Hey,

I’m a beginner too.
For the celtic side of my path I’m trying to focus on gallo-roman subjects. Some ‘general’ celtic books I’ve downloaded are:
Miranda Green - the Gods of the Celts
Sharlyn Hidalgo - the healing power of trees (a set of cards can be bought with this book)
Ogam weaving word wisdom - Erynn Laurie

Greetings

So the book I have on the Kindle is Celtic Religion in Pre-Christian Times by E (Edward) Anwyl.  The Kindle says I'm 20% through it so I still can't give it that much of a recommendation though.
