What are SIGs?
« on: May 19, 2016, 10:01:05 pm »
Howdy friends,

It's time for a very basic newbie questions? What does 'SIG' stand for.. I see references everywhere to SIGs and I dont know what it means... I've mostly been focused on Shakta/vedanta practices, so I'm still learning (I guess I always will be)...

Thanks!
Lucas

SIG stands for Special Interest Group - SIGs are subforums devoted to a particular subject area. The Religious SIGs can be found here, and the General SIGs can be found here; if you take a look at them, you'll probably get a better idea of the details than you would from me explaining further - but if, after looking, you still have questions about them, please do ask them here!

Also, I've moved the thread to 'Board Questions, Suggestions, and Feedback', because it's a question about the forum, not about pagan religions - I suspect that might have been a factor in your confusion, Jungblood; you were trying to figure out what it might be from a religious perspective.

To add to Sunflower's explanation, since it might help with a point of confusion: SIG is not a term specific to this forum. It's a term used by a lot of organisations or associations or groups to identify special interest groups within their memberships.

Seeking: first steps on a Pagan path (advice for seekers and people new to Paganism)

Thanks guys! now i understand.... my little head was saying 'SIGs must be somethign to do with Sigils'... doh! the simplest explanation tends to be the right one...

Hugs,
Lucas
