2019 Donation Drive

It's time for our annual Server Donation Drive! We need to raise at least $650 (same as last year) to keep The Cauldron's server online for another year. Please help! Either hit that Paypal button to the right and make a one-time donation in any amount or set up a monthly Bronze, Silver or Gold Donor subscription. You can find more info in this message!

Donations as of 16 Sept 2019: $660 donated. $10 more our minimum goal! Let's beat last year's total of $99 more than the minimum!

Note: This total is updated manually, usually once a day

* "Unable to verify referring url. Please go back and try again" Problem Logging In?

If you get an "Unable to verify referring url. Please go back and try again" error when you try to log in, you need to be sure you are accessing the board with a url that starts with "https://ecauldron.com".  If it starts with https://www.ecauldron.com" (or "http://www.ecauldron.com") you will get this error because "www.ecauldron.com" is not technically the same website as "ecauldron.com". Moving to the more secure "https" means it is more picky about such things.

Difference between Bookmarking Threads and Subscribing?
« on: July 05, 2011, 03:07:49 am »
Could someone explain the difference between bookmarking a thread and subscribing to a thread, please? I couldn't find an explanation in the FAQ, and I'm a little confused.

Thanks in advance.

If I understand correctly, bookmarking a thread is like bookmarking a page in your browser--it's just a quick way to find the thread back again when you want it.  Subscribing to the thread gets you notifications when people post new replies to it.

Exactly. Note that you can also bookmark posts (at least those you did not write) via the little tag icon to the right on the bottom grey (in the default style) area just under a post on the same line as the Reply with quote button.  You find links you your bookmarked posts on your Settings page under the "DBTech - Bookmarks" header.

And the exclamation point in a triangle icon in the same area is to report the post to the staff (for rules violations).

Um--not that right. The other right. (It's on the far left, underneath the user information area. I didn't look until I read this and figured it might come in handy.)

Is there someway to make it so when you click onto a thread that has a new reply that you go directly to it? So far, and it may just be me, everytime I click on a thread with a new reply I have to search till I get to it.  Very annoying.

Never mind, I just saw the "New Posts" button up at the left hand corner. :D  Note to self, make sure you are AWAKE when exploring the new site! :D

If there are new messages in a thread, there is a little blue dot symbol in front of the thread name on lists of threads. Click on that blue dot to go to your first unread message in that thread.

If you are in a thread with new messages already, there is a "View Unread" link at the top of the page of messages, in the bar just above the first message on the page.

Ah. Thank you. That would have been my next question: "where do I find my bookmarks?" :)

Which can be a bit frustrating, since that's not necessarily the first place I think to look!
