* "Unable to verify referring url. Please go back and try again" Problem Logging In?

If you get an "Unable to verify referring url. Please go back and try again" error when you try to log in, you need to be sure you are accessing the board with a url that starts with "https://ecauldron.com".  If it starts with https://www.ecauldron.com" (or "http://www.ecauldron.com") you will get this error because "www.ecauldron.com" is not technically the same website as "ecauldron.com". Moving to the more secure "https" means it is more picky about such things.

Saga passages for someone who has passed away?
« on: February 21, 2016, 11:40:00 pm »
Hello,

so my best friend committed suicide a couple of days ago, and I have been having a real tough time. But I was wondering if there were any passages from the Poetic Edda that could be a meaningful thing to write on a card and leave on his grave? Or just to say as a prayer for him?

He himself was not a Pagan, but he was always interested in it when he talked about it with me so I think he would like it as a present from me. Though at his service since we were both raised Catholic, I spoke the Trinitarian formula in Latin and his family liked that.

But I still would like to know if there is a good passage from the Edda's for the passing of a good friend or family member.

Thanks guys

EDIT: Also, I already know the one from Havamal, "Cattle die, Kinsmen Die...." I was wondering about any different one. Thank you

Sorry to hear about your loss.

Chapter 81 of Egils Saga contains a poem Egil wrote after the death of his son. It's fairly long, so you might find some suitable passages.

The pace of progress in artificial intelligence (I’m not referring to narrow AI) is incredibly fast. [...] The risk of something seriously dangerous happening is in the five year timeframe. 10 years at most.--Elon Musk

I am in the camp that is concerned about super intelligence," [Bill] Gates wrote. "First the machines will do a lot of jobs for us and not be super intelligent. That should be positive if we manage it well. A few decades after that though the intelligence is strong enough to be a concern. I agree with Elon Musk and some others on this and don\'t understand why some people are not concerned."
