Out of that supply I personally examined the essay of Ake v. Ström, "Personal Piety in Nordic Heathenism", p. 374 - 380.

Ström analyses the personal devotions as far as shown in classic texts and concluded that the ancient religion did not only consist of the public cult but had personal piety too in the life of today of the ordinary people. The essay contains some very interesting quotations.
