I don't usually write, I find painting comes to me easier. I would upload some, but watercolours don't scan well and I don't have a digital camera.

I was looking up prayers to Brigid online but what I found didn't really feel personal enough, so I decided to write my own. Was just sitting here playing online when it came to me.

Brigid

You who preside over the flame
That feeds the fires in the smithy
Patroness of the Smith
Who makes tools for the village

You who tend the healing herbs
That restore our ill and wounded
Patroness of the Healer
Who keeps us whole and healthy

You who inspire the poet
To nourish the spirits of the people
Patroness of the Poet
Who fills our hearts with wonder

We offer to you this day
And ask you to guide and inspire us
Whatever our art or craft may be
We thank you heartily

I actually really enjoyed this.  Do you write any poetry?

Thank you. :) Occasionally I'll be thinking about something and it turns into a poem, but if I sit down and try to deliberately create one I get writers block. I have some that I need to polish up a bit, will have a look around and see if I have some that I can share.

Glad you liked it. Will submit it after I figure out how I would want my name to appear. Your link is missing the end bit but the thread was easy to find anyway. ;)

Here's one for the people caught up in city life. Had to rewrite parts of it as I tend to go off on a tangent, lol. :p

Walk among the trees
Run barefoot in the grass
Sit by river, lake or beach
Go back to the basics

Be one with mother nature
The earth that birthed us
Along with all that flies
Walks on land or swims in sea

Get out of our concrete jungles
Feel the spirit of the wilds
Connect with our ancestors
Experience nature as they did

Sit for a while and listen
Hear the birds sing in the trees
Hear the whisper of the wind
Hear the murmur of flowing water

Look upon the towering trees
See the beautiful wildflowers
Creatures going here and there
Bear witness to the wonders

Know that mother nature needs us
We are her guardians
We must protect the environment
To the best of our ability

Care for her, and she will care for us all

This is one I wrote for our Samhain ritual

The Circle and the summoning

Sacred circle
whole and true
blessed elements
we summon you

spirits of earth
of the sacred oak tree
spirits of air
forever wild and free
spirits of fire
of warmth and light
spirits of water
that dance day and night

sacred spirits
we call to you
enter our circle
bring wisdom true

I like the way you described the elements, very nice piece. :)

Thank you, I am a really big fan of different types of oral traditions, so I like to conduct my rituals almost entirely in poetry.  Rotating in new ones keeps things from turning into a mindless lip service.  I've got more than a few season related poems.

That's a great idea to conduct rituals in poetry. :)

Last night I dreamed that I was singing Damh the Bard's song Lady of the Silver Wheel. It's about Arianrhod. I don't usually sing in dreams so it was rather interesting. Today I sat down and decided to write a poem about Her.

Arianrhod

From an island in the sea
To the starry midnight sky
Your reach is long

Circle of stars sits
Upon your head like a crown
Your silver hair shines

Away in the northern sky
You have your home
So far from here

You weave our fates
Upon your silver wheel
In your sparkling castle

One day we'll meet you
As spirits as you row us
Up high to the moon land

Our Lady of the Stars
High in the night sky
Do you see us looking up?

Had another one just happen, not sure what to call this one yet.

Grounded in Earth
As the roots of a tree

Free as the Wind
To go where I will

Bright like flame
A light in the gloom

Changing like the river
Still as the pool

Connected to the Spirit
Together all are one

As I lit a candle for Brighid today, I came up with these words and spoke them.

May Your flame burn strong
In the hearth
In our minds
And in our hearts

So be it

Hmm - I have a bit of liturgy that I've been using at the beginning of my Cill shift since the Cill began, but I've yet to find anything suitable for the end of my shift.  That might fit the bill really well.

Went to bed two nights ago, then got out for a few minutes to write this down. Kept it short for purposes of chanting.

Chant for Brighid

Lady of wells
Your green mantle
Wrapped around me

Lady of flame
Hearth and smithy
