Wistful Maiden
« on: September 27, 2020, 12:05:35 pm »
Like the Kabuki Maid
who stepped from  her painting
We stand graceful against a wall
Ardent hues of amethyst
Loving shades of lavender
Fluttering folds of green
Some say we hang our heads in sorrow
Others that we humbly bow
Expressing gentle supplication
Honorable respect
Our mysterious scent evokes
Bliss
Hope
Inspires the heart to endure
Our memories recollect
Tender as love unrequited
We warn that obsessive clinging
Can destroy like our vine unchecked
Balance your conscious evolution
With the sheer joy of voracious growth
Celebrate success
Each memory forged
On the meaning of longevity
reflect

For those new to the game, each poem is inspired by a teacher found in nature; a star, stone, animal, plant, etc that holds lessons for us. Can you guess who is singing today?
Wishing you laughter

Okay, ma'am, you got me. I'm a little better with animals than plants...I have a black thumb. But I'll put forth a guess of the only (non-poisonous!) vine I know...Virginia Creeper?

Oddly enough, I spent the afternoon looking at Virginia Creeper from my hammock and wondering what song it was singing! I tend to think of it as a rather pernicious invader. I am constantly stripping it, and ivy, from my tree friends. It is not, however the woody vine singing wistfully here. Hmmm, perhaps a few more clues

This is a stab-in-the-dark guess (I put 'vine' and 'sweet-scented' into my brain and this is the first thing that popped out), and consultation with Wikipedia leaves me ambivalent about how well it fits, but I'll toss it out anyway.

Spoiler:
Honeysuckle?

The little hint of Japanese imagery may be a clue here, if I'm right.  Wisteria?

Winner, winner, chicken dinner! lol Congrats on naming this teacher, Wisteria  :) I was worried I did not give enough physical clues, maybe too heavy on her lessons

One of my favorite scents! That teacher sings of happiness, devotion and recalling good childhood memories. Also known as Woodbine
