Obligatory Celebratory Post (I finished writing my next book)
« on: January 24, 2013, 08:55:35 pm »
So I already squeed a bit about this in chat, but I need more accolades from forum members. WORSHIP ME LIKE THE GOD/DESS I AM

Finished writing my novel today. It's called Stranger Skies and it clocks in at just over 70,000 words. That's good, because I wanted it to be 90K at the absolute out, and I've got some stuff to fill in still. (There are parts of the book where I've got [FILL THIS IN LATER] or [HERPY DERPY WHO KNOWS FIGURE IT OUT LATER] because it wasn't pertinent to the plot and I just wanted to finish the damn thing. No more spending 13 years writing a first draft; sheesh.)

Basic premise: Silva, goddess of wolves, Lady of the True Woods, while in search of a missing friend, falls to a planet where no one believes in her and becomes mortal and humanoid. She must save the wolves of this land from encroaching war, regain her godhood or at least the ability to change into wolf-form again, find the missing deity Etan, and discover why certain other gods have gone missing from the Council of Deities. All within the span of a mortal life.

Also she falls in love with a mortal who is on the opposite side of the war, and becomes apprentice to a witch.

Anyway, it's the first in a larger series I've got planned that includes an all-out war among the gods. I'm pretty excited about it and hoping to get the outline draft of the second book finished within the next month, as well as revisions and edits to the first. (Oh, and finishing the first draft of the sequel to Bellica. Busy!)

I feel like an actual author now because I've actually finished more than one novel, so. You should shower me in Nutella and double-espresso-flavoured vodka. (It's a thing.)

Or not; whatever. :ange:

DON'T TELL ME WHAT TO DO I'm so happy for you! That's really really really awesome. You should be absolutely proud of yourself.

I shall embrace the light. I shall weather the storm.
I shall endure.

That's quite an accomplishment! *worships at the feet of Morag*

Awww, thank you Danny. I totally am.

Also will you be a beta reader once it's gone through primary revisions?

Thanks Annie! I'm super excited too and I can't wait until it's all finished and released so I can share it with the world! (I think perhaps a lot of Cauldronites would enjoy it.)

I KNEEL BEFORE YOUR MIGHT!

Really! Finishing a book is a BIG DEAL. Accolades are due and given. Congrats!
The first song sets the wheel in motion / The second is a song of love / The third song tells of Her devotion / The fourth cries joy from the sky above
The fifth song binds our fate to silence / and bids us live each moment well / The sixth unleashes rage and violence / The seventh song has truth to tell
The last song echoes through the ages / to ask its question all night long / And close the circle on these pages / These, the metamythos songs
