Land of Flowers, by TheElegantShadow (That's me! =D)
-----------------------------------------------------
I awoke in an eerie, pitched field
The sky was tinted in grey
Red roses consumed the ground and hills
Like fire come to play
Their fragrance was sweet, and yet bitter as well
An aroma that ravaged my senses
With bloodlust and bale
I picked myself up from my place on the ground
I looked at my surroundings
And I was shocked to have found
The far, the vast, and the immoderate miles ahead
The embrace of the sky upon the lofty mounds
And the stretch of the roses that grew in beds
In my stunned awe, I heard a sound go by
I spun myself in circles looking for the source
It was the caw of a raven that flew just out of sight
And with no other direction, I started for its course
However, as I followed its path, the red that once stained the ground
Had now turned a ghostly, ash white
Shadows now danced across the mounds
And the land now glowed with a dim, pale light
I was knocked from my reverie by that same queer bird
And I returned to my path before it deferred
I looked ahead towards a crossroad with a sign at the center
“Hail to the maiden of the high dawn. Victory she’ll lead you to, O daughter and son.”
“Hail to the dark one that crept the far end. And with him, your body and soul shall descend”
But as I read the final part
A turbulence erupted, and caused my depart
In the spin of the gust that consumed my being
A cut ran downward, and across my heaving chest
And so came a sudden flood of distant memories
The clash of swords and axes, and the shield's holy crest
The pile of bodies stacking upon the land
And the screams and bellows of horses and men
In my dream like state of flashbacks unfolding
The winds had laid me before something unseemly
The raven that guided me with its mocking caws
Now stood before me in an unseelie sight
Its feathers were as dark as the night skies maw
It cawed once more and in a burst of light
Feathers and down, and petals of white
Fell before me in a weird yaw
And From the blinding sheen, I saw
A maiden that glowed with the light of dawn
Stood before me at one-side of the crossroads
Bearing a sword in hand and at her feet a young fawn
And warm smile she bestowed
With locks as red as an apple’s skin
And flesh, pale and pure, and untouched by sin
She bade me, “Come hither to me, and yet again, you shall taste victory”
A sudden rush, a twisted blight began within me
And the path before me turned crimson once again
As I started towards her, my heart racing, and blood a-boil
A black shrouded figure grasped my hand
His eyes were brown and sunken from recoil
His face was shriveled and stark
Holding a caduceus by his right side
And adorn by cloak of shadows, both weird and dark
He did not speak, but only pointed beside
A path of white, that leads to a shaded end
A dark space devoid of shape and time
And only echoed with the yawning wind
I took a step back and stood between the two
And thought of my life, and my imminent doom
The maiden beckoned me, "come with,"
Whilst the Spector stood present
The woman’s beauty is the thing of myth
And the shrouded figure’s eyes were that of dissent
I looked forward and thought upon the sign, and its meaning
And my legs started carrying me without my noticing
The shrouded one took me by the hand
And the woman’s eyes turned red with spite
The cloaked one led me to his land
And as I looked to the other road, one last time
I saw the trail ablaze in red

I am extremely proud of this poem. It was both a labor of love, and one of anal compulsion.
