All Of Our Deeds Come Home To Roost
« on: March 06, 2012, 01:30:54 pm »
I crack the shell
of unreasoning darkness
with my audacious song.
Rousting you
from the safe familiar nest
of your dreams.
Awaken!
Greet the dawning
of a new illumination
and strive to see the Truth
from the inside out,
for appearances
are seldom what they seem!
Take heed!
Brooding over unhatched plans,
gossiping and clucking
with self-righteous disapproval
or crowing over our accomplishments
will only get someone's hackles up,
breeding misery and strife.
Attentive observation,
self-assurance and honest work
bring far better results.
Scratching for a living?
Keep pecking away at your obstacles.
We all strut and fret our way through life.
To thine own self be true,
yet fight fiercely when you must
to establish your place
within the order of the group.
There is safety in numbers
and a lightened load.
Alone,
you may simply find yourself
in hot soup!
Remember!
We can only reap
that which we sow.
If you put no effort in,
you receive nothing,
and naught of value will grow.

For those new to the game, each singing poem is inspired by a Teacher found in Nature; an animal, plant, star, stone etc that holds lessons of Wisdom for those who listen. Can you guess who is singing today?
Wishing you laughter

A chicken?
A heretic blast has been blown in the west,
That what is no sense must be nonsense.

A chicken?

Congrats to both you and Juni for identifying this Teacher; Gallus gallus domesticus better known as the humble Chicken. Rooster is easily seen in the first verse, as the traditional Herald of Dawn, but Hen is just as appropriate an answer for the clues given. Well done!

Roosters are symbolically connected to the rising Sun, and therefore are important Teachers for the bringing of Enlightenment into our lives. Chickens are very aware of their environment and spend a good chunk out of any day scratching in the dirt to find food. This makes them excellent Teachers for helping us to increase our own Awareness and uncovering hidden things. The final verse is a nod to the lessons found in the story of the Little Red Hen. Did you sow the wheat? Tend it, reap it, mill it, bake it? No? Then tough, no bread for you! lol One of the biggest challenges for those connecting with this Teacher is to not just react to potential danger in a big clatter of motion, or letting fear make our decisions for us, sending us in the opposite direction of the perceived threat. The wiser course is to keenly observe the situation and listen to our gut instincts. All forms of teaching and knowledge, the ability to absorb new ideas, energy, guarding of personal space, understanding, fertility, and creativity, ability to sense danger, independence in groups, individuality and uniqueness are all Chicken lessons.
Wishing you laughter
