I am finally reading The Triumph of the Moon by Hutton.
To myself, I'm reading The 12th Planet by Zechariah Sitchin.  (Yes it's supposed to be 'history' but I'm reading it as 'science fiction'.)
Also reading The Hobbit to my lil boy.  It's a bit thick in they way of prose-- it puts him out after 2 or 3 pages-- so I'm thinking to switch him to lighter fare like Lloyd Alexander instead.

Sounds about right.  Emphasis on "fiction".

Oh yeah, definitely.  It's fun reading.
Who knows... if I ever get around to writing some eon-spanning scifi epic, maybe Sitchin will be my inspiration.  My muse.

Because someone had to restart this thread after the move.  What are you reading, how is it, and would you recommend it?

Right now I'm reading "War and Peace" by Tolstoi (ofc). It's massive undertaking for me, since I'm reading it in english and I always tried to avoid Russian authors (not that I have a perceivable reason for that...). However, if I want to become a book editor I really should step off my comfort zone :)

Just started reading A History of Wales by John Davies

Sounds like my reading list

Currently top of my stack is 'A Concise History of Ireland' by P.W.Joyce - 6th edition publication date is 1897 - the library copy I'm reading still has the checkout grid in he front cover - first date it was checked out was March 8, 1931 (snicker)

Makes a lot of assumptions and some stuff is just plain wrong, but it's interesting to see how the late 19th century saw Irish history

I'm currently in the middle of a couple of books-

Wizard and Glass by Stephen King (I'm slowly re-reading the dark tower series in anticipation of the 8th book that's due for release in November, Wind in the Keyhole)

The Hidden Reality by Brian Greene (If you have any interest in the theoretical physics of alternate/parallel universes, you need to read this. THis is the second of Greene's books that i've read- the other being the Elegant Universe, I haven't read Fabric of the Cosmos yet and the ideas and concepts behind particle physics, string theory, quantum mechanics etc just blow my mind. these books are written for the lay person, so you certainly don't have to be a physicist to understand what he's saying. I never even took high school physics and I can follow what he's saying with little effort.)

The High King's Tomb by Kristen Britain- because it's been a couple of years since I read it, and I only just finally got a copy of her most recent book, Blackveil, so I wanted to reread this one to remember what was going on.

Desolation Angles by Jack Kerouac- One of maybe three books I've ever truly had trouble reading. I've been trying since 1998. It's hard to follow, very disjointed. I've restarted it several times. Far more difficult than his other books, I've found it.

Dhalgren by Samuel Delany- I'm seriously considering giving up on this one. Tried five times. Wikipedia makes it sound so darned interesting, and then a couple of hundred pages into it...where are all these interesting elements they write about?

I've got a fairly serious list of books to read...and a coworker who keeps adding to the list! Help! Hehehehe

The Hole Behind Midnight by Clinton Boomer (e-book on my Kindle). WAY too much fun, reminiscent of Douglas Adams--but with, as my mother would have said, "blue language." VERY blue. No less funny--just a heads-up for anyone for whom that could be an issue.
"The Eightfold Path is sometimes called the pathless path. Each step brings a growing awareness that enlightenment is in the here and now--in the world and in our relationships as we read these words . . . now." -- Jonathan White
