Pen Pals!
« on: April 04, 2014, 12:58:07 pm »
I apologize if this has already been posted or if this is in the wrong category.
This has been on my mind for a long time. I would love a Pagan Pen Pal. I think it would be a great bonding experience! Many Pagans (including myself) have no connections where they live, so I feel like having Pen Pals will make the world seem a lot smaller and it'll build strong, magickal bonds between fellow Pagans and Witches. We could exchange things such as idle discussion, what's going on where we live, or even exchange spells and other Pagan related things. So, thoughts? I would really like this to happen. :)

I think this is a pretty cool idea.  If you or anyone else wants to write back and forth, message me and we can exchange info.

I would love a pagan pen pal.  Feel free to PM me if you want to exchange emails, I would prefer an online exchange to snail mail if that's okay!

Count me in. Of course there will be an address change during the summer but that probably won't be too bad. Plus! I'll have lots to discuss!

Pm me to exchange details maybe? :3

I'm cool with email too, but snail mail has that nostalgic feeling to it.

I agree, do you think it would be a good Idea to put my postal code on this thread?

Typically when exchanging addresses on TC, it's done via PM or outside email. There's no harm in post codes if you don't mind people knowing what city/town you're from, but generally that's the most specific we get in public areas.

Thanks Juni I'll do it by PM although I don't mind people knowing that I live in St. Johns Newfoundland.

Unlike US zip codes, which usually only narrow it down to a town/region (or perhaps a largish part of a big city), Canadian postal codes are much more specific, and narrow it down (in urban areas) to a block or part of a block, or even a single office/apartment building - they're meant to allow a piece of mail to be delivered even if the address is illegible. (F'ex, my postal code is shared only by ten single-household houses.)

So, no Canadian postal codes - staff (well, Catja, Jubes, and I; non-Canadian staff might not realize) would be likely to edit them out of posts if we see them, just as we do with addresses and phone numbers in most cases. And when we don't know for sure how another country's post codes work, we'd be likely to err on the side of caution and remove them.

I'm all about the nostalgia of written letters, so if anyone wants to exchange snail mail with me, pm me.  I live in Omaha, Nebraska, USA, in case anyone wants to look up postal rates.  I think it would be fun to exchange letters inside or outside the USA.  Feel free to PM me.

And I'm in Shelton Connecticut USA. I think for US postal, it's a flat rate of 44 cents for a regular letter. Don't quote me on it though.
