There, I said it! - The positive edition!
« on: August 03, 2011, 04:00:21 pm »
We had this one on the old board, and even though it never saw as much screen time as its negative cousin, I appreciated reading it.

Here is the place for pride, gratitude, pious rants and general happy, happy, joy, joy of life.

I'll start off:

Dear garden, thank you for producing good food and for helping me teach my daughter what good food is. Kids eating salad! Hooray!

TISI. :)

Dear Mom,

thank you for making it possible for me to take my work on the road by loaning me the money for a MacBook Pro. This means I can visit my boyfriend guilt free, because I can bring my job with me.

Dear Airline,
Thank you for the 2500 free frequent flyer miles. It really makes me feel better about the mess last week.

Dear District Manager,
Thank you for being so excited that I'm back. You're so much cooler than the other district managers I've worked under for this company.

Dear people I live with,

Thank you for taking over the menu-making and cooking this week.  I'm exhausted by this crazy work schedule and I really need your help, but I don't always know what to ask for and there's something in my background that has led me to feel bad asking anyway.  So I really, really appreciate it when you see something you can do and just jump in and do it.  Especially on a day like yesterday.  I was really falling apart and a show of support like that was just what I needed.

Dear kid who ran over our neighbor's mailbox and hit ours too "texting while driving" (or possibly falling asleep at the wheel) at 2am,

Thank you for taking responsibility for your actions and not just paying for the mailboxes you took out got fixed, but actually coming out and replacing them yourself.  There are a lot of people (self included, if I'm honest--what do I know about replacing mailboxes?) who would have just written a check to cover it.  It's really nice to just have it taken care of entirely and not have to worry about it.

I know that the burger you brought in was supposed to be for Z after he fixed your phone the other day, but thanks for letting me have it when you found out he was off today. Free lunch FTW!

Dear Nick,
You rock. I mean, seriously amazing. A knitting book that wasn't even ON my Amazon wishlist, because I wasn't aware of it, AND it has patterns in my size? Patterns that I would actually wear? Squee!!!!!  *happy dance*

Dear Mark Smith of Simpsonville, South Carolina,

Thank you for volunteering to read books aloud for Librivox.  The price of using volunteer efforts for a project like that can sometimes be that standards of quality are lower.  Your recordings, though, are wonderfully done, and I thank you for somehow managing to choose to record exactly the books I feel like listening to right now.

Thank you boyfriend, for being sweet and remembering our anniversary when I completely forgot. You could have just let it slide (you know how bad my memory for dates is), but you told me and apologized for not remembering the day of. I don't care that we did nothing. You cared enough to remember, and that's better than almost anything else.

Thank you, Uncle and Aunt, because even though you just moved to where I live, you still spend time and money on me, though I know you must be busy and strapped for cash.  Thank you for the driving lesson, and the dinners that are so much better than college dinners and the invitations to squash games.

And one I should have said a long time ago and need to find a good time to say, Thank you, Mum and Dad, because who cares about the school system?  If it's worth knowing, you guys taught it to me.
