House Protection

I was wanting to know information about protecting my house. Is there anything to keep around the house for protection or rituals for the house?

I have used blessed salt sprinkled at the thresholds to my house (windows and doors) if that helps :) Protection oils dabbed on the doorways and windows worked too.

From what? To be honest I've never really felt the need to do anything specific. I have a good relationship with the local wights and the house has its own spirits which are friendly and benign.

I protect my house from people.  Dunno if that's what the OP had in mind, but...

That's exactly what I had in mind! haha. I realize that whatever is going to happen will happen, but a little added protection never hurts. There have been a lot of bad things happening around my neighborhood (ie: people breakin in while owners are sleeping and literally beating them, people stealing cars) and I don't live in a bad neighborhood! I have always felt safe until recent.

I tend to use salt as an indoor cleaning/protection, as well as incense.

I have used eggshells for exterior protection.  I sprinkled ground eggshells around my house in a circle, but also thinking you could bury an egg at the four corners (and if you want to do something more five-spot, you could blow an eggshell so it is hollow, fill it with protective stones/herbs/wishes, seal it with wax and hang/place it in the center of your house).

I had a friend who used a protective spray, she would spray the windows and doorways with it.

I had heard of using salt, but I wasn't sure how to. Just live it outside under a full moon? I love the idea of burying the egg at the four courners! That is definatly something I'm going to try! Thank you!

You could evoke the Norse God Baldr. The Poetic Edda says this:

The seventh is Breithablik; | Baldr has there
For himself a dwelling set,
In the land I know | that lies so fair,
And from evil fate is free.

The way I have learned to understand it is that if anyone enters his dwelling with ill content in their heart, they will get uneasy.

If you want to go the hoodoo or folk magic route, Lucky Mojo has a lot of different ideas and supplies geared towards protection and homes. They actually have a whole page dedicated to protection spells.

Ah well in that case I have good locks on all the doors and an intruder alarm. Very mundane but very effective against human ingress! The wights help too :)

Thanks so much everyone!
I do have good locks and dead bolts on both doors! :D:An intruder alarm was installed yesterday by my dad. Like I say I just wanted a little extra umph when protecting the house.

There are a lot of ways you can use salt.  You could sprinkle a line of it across the outside of all the openings into your house (doors, windows, etc..).  You can make little charms of salt-dough and hang them by your door.  I do a combination of cleansing/protection when I clean by sprinkling salt on the floors before vacuuming/sweeping, so that it will soak up any negative energy that might be there and also to help charge the space to repel future negativity (especially when I know we will be hosting company).

Do you just bury the egg or is there any preparation or anything with this? I normally do salt or oil but have noticed my dog tries to lick it.  I am hoping burying the egg where she cannot get to them would work. I am glad this thread was created, as it is something I was wondering about as well.

I would bury it while saying a blessing or protection chant over it.  You could also draw protection symbols on the egg before you bury it.  Also any other items you wished to add for protection (herbs, stones, charms) can be buried with it.
