Because someone had to restart this thread after the move.  What are you reading, how is it, and would you recommend it?

Fiction: slowly savoring A Dance with Dragons, part of the A Song of Ice and Fire novels by George R. R. Martin. It's odd because I usually devour books, but for whatever reason I'm taking my time with this book. Possibly because I am extremely distracted these days.

Non-fiction: I'm gathering up all my pagan books and reading them as a group. Including but not limited to Pagans and the Law, Pagan Parenting, A Book of Pagan Rituals, and The Complete Idiot's Guide to Paganism, plus The Complete Idiot's Guide to World Mythology.

Joseph Goldstein's One Dharma: The Emerging Western Buddhism. I joined an online book club through Average Buddhist's page on Facebook (she's a blogger as well as maintaining the FB page), so there are a bunch of us all reading and commenting as we go. Not very organized, but interesting!

There's also the "Te of Piglet", by the same author. Also enjoyable.

I will definitely check it out, thanks!

Kitty and the Silver Bullet by Carrie Vaughn, I'm rereading the series before I get the latest book :)

And, while I'm still reading One Dharma, I've begun Thubten (now Pema) Chodron's Buddhism for Beginners. While I'm hardly a total tyro, I find that her style of explanation suits me well, and helps me figure out how to discuss my beliefs with non-Buddhists in a more appropriate, understandable manner. (And, I'm getting some validation of what I've said in the past, in particular regarding prayer and deities. It's all good, so far.)

..

Israel Regardie - "The Middle Pillar". It's old, the psychology stuff probably outdated, and his writing style can be a bit pretentious. But the explanations and the work clicks with me at this time, so I'm slowly working through the Lesser Banishing Ritual of the Pentagram, until I can actually feel what is happening.

It sounds really cool; is it accessible to non-Buddhists?

Being the only person on the planet who's never read it, I'm about 3/4 through Good Omens (and have already recommended it to a coworker).  Following that I'm gonna try to finish Kim Stanley Robinson's new book, Galileo (which I'm not really liking so far), and then start his Science in the Capital trilogy.

If it's any consolation, you've only been the only person for a few months - I didn't get to it until this April.

I've been doing a '100 Book Challenge' so I've been flying through books like I don't know what.
Currently I'm reading 'The Crimson Petal and The White' by Michel Faber. Really enjoying it so far :)
