FlameKeeping Work Structure
« on: July 01, 2013, 08:54:17 pm »
Interested in FlameKeeping but not really sure what to do? The FlameKeeping Work Structure is a guideline to living FlameKeeping. It contains questions to answer and steps to take to explore FlameKeeping through Dark Flame and Bright Flame work.

It is not mandatory; there is no sign up form or fee. You can share the work on your blog, here in the SIG, or show it to no one, if you prefer.

The Work Structure is a work in progress. The Bright Flame & Universe Arcs are not yet available.

INTRODUCTION

FlameKeeping is a spirituality that requires participation. It is not to be read and thought about and then pushed aside, it is to be acted on. It asks each of us to work on improving the Universe. We begin with ourselves and reach out from there. To our loved ones, to our communities, and to the world.

The work structure of FlameKeeping reflects this pattern. It begins with an overview of FlameKeeping's mindset. Dark Flame work is added next, then Bright Flame work, and finally Universe work. When one has completed the Universe work, they start over at the beginning, not abandoning what they've learned during the first cycle, but tweaking and improving it.

Why the repeat? Because in FlameKeeping the work is never done. It is a cycle, not a road with a destination in mind. Each part is but an arc on the cycle.

We can not expect ourselves to get everything we can out of the work the first time around. We change and grow as we do later work, and so we are not the same person when we come to it again. Nor is the world the same place.

As you work through the cycle, remember that to be a FlameKeeper is to contribute to FlameKeeping. Each arc on the cycle is an opportunity to add to the spirituality, using your own gifts and talents.

OVERVIEW ARC

    Read the FK book,
Kindling Our Stars, and complete a journal on the prompts.
Read
Curse of Chalion and write about how it relates to FK
Write about how FK does and/or does not fit you, and what you learned and what you can learn from it.

Contribute to FlameKeeping in some way. Your addition can be in the form of an essay, a poem, music, art, additional study materials, ect.

DARK FLAME ARC

Answer the questions in each of the 4 areas below.

Physical
What health problems do you have? What dietary, nutritional, or exercise responsibilities do you shirk? What part of your body is the weakest? What physical goals do you have? How does this relate to being divine?

Emotional
How stable are your emotions? What is your base emotion? Which emotion/s do you have trouble with? How do you feel when you're alone? With others? How do you act toward others? How do you handle stress? What about your emotions do you wish you could change? What negative thoughts do you have? How does this relate to being divine?

Mental
What would you like to learn more about? What do you enjoy learning about? What don't you know much about that regularly affects you? How good is your memory? How does this relate to being divine?

Spiritual
How do you connect with the Divine? Is that connection as strong as you would like it to be? What spiritual practices would you like to explore next? What are some ways you could include the chance to do that in your life? What do you wish were different about your spiritual practice? Why? What steps could you take to change that over time?

Identify one weakness in each area that you will work on. Take as long as you need. Then, record your journey. Write, draw, paint, sing, or dance about how you improved or struggled with improving each weakness.

Identify an activity that nourishes your Dark Flame. If you don’t currently have such an activity, try out different things until you find the right one. Make this activity a regular part of your spiritual practice.
