I have heard it stated that blood is one of the most powerful items to use within your Craft, especially menstrual blood for women. It is the essential life force and contains fragments of your soul, personality, identity, etc.

Blood magick is indeed powerful, but moon blood is forbidden in my practice... It's considered offensive to my patron.

Blood magick is also not something that I'd recommend for the black arts unless the practitioner is rather practiced, as all that amplified power could turn out to be a very bad thing if the spell/hex/curse backfires.

Actually, scratch that... It's not something that I'd recommend for newbies at all.

Building off this: not all cultures have had blood sacrifice. Shinto in Japan has never practiced blood or animal sacrifice. In fact, anyone with an open wound or flowing blood (including menstruating women) were traditionally not allowed on holy sites...and this was expanded to include Buddhist temples! The idea of offering My Lady Benzaiten-sama some of my blood is laughable. It's like the idea of giving her an "offering" of a pile of turds on a plate.

As for magic, I'd certainly be willing to use my menses in some sort of witch bottle-type spell to keep less-than benign forces away. But Sarasvati/Benzaiten isn't receiving that stuff as an offering, so she has no qualms helping me there. It's a moot point though, as I have an IUD and thus no menses....
KARMA: You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means.

Personally, I'm not sure if I would want to risk being attached to hexes/curses.

Are there any other instances of which blood is/may be used in Craftwork?

Magic is basically getting from A to B.  You have no result atm (A) and wish to achieve one (B).

There are many paths to reach B.  Maybe you take the straightest line.  Maybe you take the longest way.  Maybe you need a friend to go with you.  Etc.  You get the idea.

As the saying goes, Redbull gives you wings... so does Blood.  Actually anything from the body (hair, spit, skin, blood).  You want to get to B?  Fastest way is to fly.

When people ask me, "What give you the right to suggest standards for others?",
my answer is, "If I don\'t, someone else, perhaps less qualified, will."

Ttrue... but it is fun to watch.  One of my lessons for all my students was to attack me.  I would give them some of my hair and vice versa.  Thunderdome style... 2 Chaote enter, 1 Chaote leaves.  Ok not that drastic but same concept.  Maybe more like Morpheus in the Matrix with "hit me".
