Lets read: Shad's awesome FlameKeeping book!
« on: February 01, 2013, 04:59:39 pm »
I thought it would be nice to have a thread where we read Shad's book and discuss each essay/story. There has been some interest in such a thread, so now's a good time to make it and get back to reading. ;)

Paperback version.

ebook version.

I'm in. Let's see who all wants to join and then set a date to begin discussing the first essay. Of course people can always join later, the discussion won't go anywhere.

I wonder if it'd be better to keep all the discussions in one thread or start a new one for each essay. I'd vote for a thread per essay.

I'll join in! I read the book a bit too quickly (for me), and have been intending to go back and work through some of the essays. I'll never do it without a motivating factor!

I'm in, spoons permitting.

I think a thread per essay would probably work out better, especially for people coming into the discussions later.

I'm in! I need something like this to discipline myself. The book is coming but I can keep up with my ebook printout until it arrives. Anything I reread will be with an eye for discussion and that always makes me focus more. I look forward to this! Thanks for coming up with the idea!

OK, a thread per essay it is. It could get very messy otherwise, as you and Fier mentioned. How many days should we have between essays?

I think that as we get further into the book, thread titles like "17th essay" will be rather confusing. I propose naming future threads with a shortened title of the book and then the title of the essay.

For example:
"KOS: Completeness" for the third essay. KOS being short for "Kindling Our Stars". Thoughts?

I guess I was doing it to keep them in order, and lack of a better idea. :p

I can name them the way you have suggested in future threads. Do we prefer that I make the new threads, or should we have whoever is ready make one if I haven't gotten to it yet?
