ADMIN: Replying to Introduction Posts (PLEASE TRIM QUOTES)
« on: July 02, 2012, 10:16:12 am »
While welcoming new members to The Cauldron by replying to their introduction posts in the Introductions forum is a nice thing to do....

...There is no reason to quote their entire Introduction post to say 5 or 10 words of welcome. When replying to an Introduction post, please trim the text of the member's introduction to a line or two, especially if all you are going to say in reply in a short "Welcome to TC" type reply. Look at how the Hosts and Staff trim these quotes and please follow our example. If you cannot be bothered to trim your quotes when replying to introductory posts, perhaps should post a "welcome" message at all.

I'll keep this in mind.

I do it when on the computer but when I'm on my mobile phone (as I usually am), it takes me at least five to ten minutes longer to post when I have to trim the quote. This for the act of trimming, which I usually have to do two or three times because it suddenly jumps over and trims too much. There is no way to recover the quoted text in tapatalk so I have to go back and hit 'quote' again and delete the last two or three snetences letter for letter. Sometimes (like now) I write my reply before trimming and then it jumps over so I have to go back and write everything again.

I do understand how it can be annoying to have the whole of it quoted so I will probably save my welcomes for when I get some free time on the computer.

Thank you for the advice.
