Abraxas - God or Concept (Both? Neither?)
« on: April 24, 2012, 03:34:59 pm »
I've some curiosity about Abraxas (random pop-in thoughts), but I am finding it difficult to know if the resources I'm reading are accurate.

Through the Google-fu of another TC member, I was directed to this site, which describes Abraxas as a god (in the monotheistic sense), a symbol of protection, and a concept of united Good and Evil.  There's also this entry on Wikipedia (yes, I know - not the best resource).

Does anyone have input on whether these sites have accurate information?  At this point, I'm assuming that Abraxas should be viewed as both deity and concept but I hate to assume anything (you know what "they" say about assumption).

Unfortunately I have nothing to offer but more Google-fu.
Maybe these help:
