A little shaken
« on: March 22, 2012, 10:07:15 pm »
Hello!

My name is Shane. Born in the central south, close to a major party city that gets its kicks off of drinking and bead throwing. I'm 22, hold a full-time job, a few close friends, and a curiosity for anything that interest me.

I'm furthering my knowledge into Wicca because the earth has always spoken to me, one way or another. I enjoy staring at the sun; marveling at its beauty when rising and falling. The glow of the moon has always enticed me. The wind, plants, dirt, water, etc have always given me a sense of home. I also believe in some form of energy, and anyone can tap into it with the right mind set.

I came to this forum because I'm a bit troubled. Being from a Catholic background, I still have that "What if the Bible is correct" feeling. It sometimes distorts how I view the world, the God and Goddess, and myself.

Anyhow, learning and information have always been precious to me. I live to know, to experience, to see and feel.

May I add, I'm freshly new to Paganism/Wicca. I did a little research when I was a teenager; not enough to even give me the truth or reality but, I'm studying as much as I can, building from the ground up.

I have no plans of doing any type of ritual until I feel firmly rooted, educated, and confident in myself and the energy I am raising.

Hi! I can't offer too much advice, as I'm in a similar boat as you, but it's getting easier and easier faster than I expected. If you feel this deep connection then I'm sure it will help you a lot too :) personally, connecting with the Goddess has been the biggest help for me, as she's easier for me to Seperate from the Christan God.
Welcome to the forums! I love it here, and hope you will too x

Welcome, hon! Glad to have you here. I'm still new to the forums myself, but I've been Wiccan for many years. I've found this to be a terrific place for information and community. You can definitely learn a lot here.

As a former Wiccan of 15+ years myself (I've changed to a different path), all I can say is to keep reading - multiple authors; no one  has all the answers.

Also, even small practices can be enlightening - even a short Full/New moon observation can bring clarity and confidence.

Ask, discuss, learn and even teach - "from the mouths of 'babes'" is a truism in whatever path you follow - even the newly learning have certain insights that can teach the rest of us something

Welcome to the friendliest Pagan forum on the World-Wide-Weird

It may not be much help to know, but the religious and cultural views you grew up with would likely have this effect no matter what they were.  Your issues are very common.

Anyhow, welcome to TC!

It's been a struggle to separate my thoughts on Divinity vs. the God/Goddess. As of now, I'm not sure which I connect with more. All in due time!

I'm a bit skeptical as to what books I want to read. It seems the most on Wicca are published by Llywelyn, which I've heard aren't that great but, I guess it depends on how you take each book. Thank you for the welcome!
