Daughter hospitalized again
« on: March 18, 2012, 08:22:35 pm »
Some of you already know the history here.

Kelley's in the hospital again. She fell (jumped? maybe, I wasn't there) from about 15-20 feet and landed on asphalt. Two compression fractures (T12 and L3) and a fractured coccyx. She's been ED'd by the responding police officer. I'm actually hoping that this time she gets mandated 6-months in a facility. Clearly her previous two stints in the psych ward didn't help her enough.

Anything you can spare, I'll take.

Right now she's drugged up for pain, and tomorrow the neuro will consult on her case. We expect she'll be fitted with a turtle brace. Surgery was mentioned but does not seem likely at present.

Her mind's another thing entirely . . .

Yet another breakup with the BF, he's got a new GF, they talked this morning and she ended up running up to a balcony and falling/jumping. She indicated that at the time, she wanted to die, but had second thoughts just as/just before losing her balance and falling. So, she broke her back. Literally. I just got home about 15 minutes ago, after leaving at shortly after 10 this morning when the ex BF messaged my husband via FB to say that Kelley was upset and talking about hurting/killing herself (I'm not clear on which wording he used, sorry). No one witnessed her jump/fall. I found her face down in the alley on the asphalt and called 911. We went forward from there.

I don't know how much more of this I or she or my family can take.

Thanks.

Her mind's another thing entirely . . .

I'm only just 'meeting' you but I want to send you my deepest sympathies for what you're going through. I've been where your daughter is (emotionally) and I know how horribly painful this must be for her - and for you! Hugssss*
You'll be in my prayers x

Just hanging this here out of convenience.

Thank you, everyone.

I'm at the hospital right now, in her room (yay for free wifi). She's been taken for an MRI. She's in a lot of pain (gosh, really?) and they've doubled her morphine dosage since yesterday afternoon. After the MRI they might switch to percoset.

I missed meeting the psych, but I plan to stay here until she returns; there are some release forms i need to sign for her, and then I can speak with her privately I hope so she gets the other side of the story. I'm sure Kelley put a good spin on what happened when they talked this morning.

So far, it seems that this time the seriousness is not being dismissed. I don't know if I dare hope that she gets mandated long-term facility time, but . . .

I'll post more when I know it for sure.
