I am researching the FN tribes who originally owned the land my family has lived on, in various places in the USA. I'm trying to dig up some reputable sources on any of the following tribes (I realize I'm using Colonial/white names instead of tribal naming for many of them- that is out of ignorance of the proper names, something I want to remedy!):

Cheyenne (WY)
Comache (TX)
Ioway (IA)
Isáŋyathi/Santee/Eastern Dakota (IA)
Lenape (MD)
Otoe-Missouria (MI)
Paugussett (CT)
Powhatan (MD)
Quiripi/Eansketambawg/Quinnipiac/Renapi (CT)
Seneca (NY)
Tuscarora (NC)
Wichita (OK/TX)

Right now I have a whopping two books. :ashamed: They are: Indian new England Before the Mayflower by Howard S. Russell, and Legends of the Longhouse by JJ Cornplanter.

If anyone can recommend any good resources on the history/culture of any of these tribes, I would really appreciate it! Books, websites, museums, anything. Thanks!

Most tribes, if they are still in existence today, have/may have websites for the various reservations. The websites can offer you a list of resources to check out.

I discovered this when trying to look into the Penobscot tribe from Maine. Sadly, there wasn't much, but I found it a good place to start.

Yup, that's on my to-do list.

I didn't have the spoons to make it to his office today and we're going back to Coquitlam tonight; I'll send him an email either today or tomorrow.

 
I can't help you with u.s. or southerly tribes and nations,I only know canucktistany type ones and more specifically northwestern or Metis related ones.
none of the names in your list were familiar to me.
I am going to jog them past some friends of mine though who might be able to help.
will post any answers I get.
