Books on Mythology
« on: January 31, 2012, 03:59:16 pm »
Hi everyone,

I've been reading about myths and god/esses (mostly because of some references to specific gods/esses in here) and I find myself very interested in Ereshkigal, Hecate and the Morrigan and their associated cultures (although Ma'at and Mafdet also intrigue me)

As so, I would like to know if any of you can point me in the direction of good books about Assyro-Babylonian, Greek/Chaldean and Celtic history and/or myths.

Oh, also I'd rather have books over websites, since I seem to absorb more knowledge in book form than by reading about things online. I'm also a book lover ;)

Thanks!

Thanks! I'll be sure to check it out.
I've seen that there's at least another thread about Sorita D'Este books on Hekate, so I'll also try those...

You'll find a number of suggestions for Greek mythology on our Greek Recon page.

For Babylonian info, try Gateways to Babylon, which has an extensive recommended reading section.  I can personally vouch that Myths from Mesopotamia by Stephanie Dalley has a good collection of translated myths that include Ereshkigal.
