FlameKeeping: Discussion of the Week - 31Jan12 through 6Feb12
« on: January 31, 2012, 09:42:19 am »
Welcome to the FlameKeeping Discussion of the Week thread for 31Jan12 through 6Feb12!

Topic: Being Open

Background reading: Opening to the Divine; Breaking internal walls

Questions:

How is being part of the Divine a responsibility?

What do you think the Divine asks of you? Do you give it?

What is it to open up to the Divine? What does it take? What does it give?

Questions:

How is being part of the Divine a responsibility?
I have a hard time explaining this. I guess I feel it's my job... my purpose or duty to do my best. Part of doing my best is growing and working with who I am and the world around me... I feel that this somehow all intertwines within all of this. It's not something I can really put into words.

Quote
What do you think the Divine asks of you? Do you give it?
I think I am asked to give everything I have. To be present to do what needs to get done to the best of my ability. I don't mean this in the sense of spending all of my spoons to the point that I have none left. Instead, I mean this in that I can't or shouldn't slack off or be lazy. I need to be present in my life and create the changes I want to see. I can't expect anyone else to do it for me- I have to do it myself.

It's to let go, imo. It reminds me a bit of O's story.. you completely let go, and you come back transformed. Different than who you were. To completely submerge and mesh with the Divine would have to leave you transformed. Of course, I don't think I'm entirely there yet, but I feel I'm working towards it.

Hopefully some of this made sense... my meds make me a little out of it.

Questions:

How is being part of the Divine a responsibility?

If I am part of the Divine, it means I have a direct impact on how the Divine grows and flourishes and/or withers and stagnates.  My actions are the actions of the Divine and I can no longer claim ignorance of the outcomes.  What I do is what the Divine does.

Quote
What do you think the Divine asks of you? Do you give it?

The Divine asks that my actions promote improvement, growth, and order.  It does not ask for "good action or right action in a moral sense; all acts that grow and improve are good and right.

I try to give this and, in the striving, feel that I meet the needs of the Divine.  As I grow better at it, so will things improve.

Quote
What is it to open up to the Divine? What does it take? What does it give?

To open up to the Divine is to open up to ourselves and others, and limitless possibilities.  It takes courage and self-knowledge while giving back growth and self-worth.
