Using Stories to Process Spiritual/Emotional Issues
« on: October 05, 2011, 10:00:45 am »
Hi everyone,

A group of us are interested in investigating the ways that we can use stories to process (and progress through) spiritual and emotional issues.  To that end, we will be using Starhawk's Twelve Wild Swans as a jumping off point for discussion.  Please let us know if you are interested in joining us.  Discussion will start in about a week so that everyone has a chance to get their books.

Thanks,
Sperran

Mmh, I never had access to that book, tho' I have in on my shelf for ever.

OTOH I'll quote an acquaintance (disincarnated, if this is of interest): stories are important, because people (human people that is) will listen to things in them, they won't hear otherwise.

I think, I am game. Being a writer and so anyways. ;)
\'You had to repay, good or bad. There was more than one type of obligation.
That’s what people never really understood.….Things had to balance.
You couldn’t set out to be a good witch or a bad witch. It never worked out for long.
All you could try to be was a witch, as hard as you could.\'

If I didn't have ten billion other things going on at the moment, I would totally jump on the bandwagon. One of the things that's recently caught my attention has been just this - using mythology and stories as useful metaphors for examining the issues in my own life. I'll watch the discussions with interest.

Ellen!!!   (((Ellen)))

On topic:  I own the book.  I'll be reading the thread in any case (because I read pretty much everything in the forums).  Storytelling and the multifarious applications thereof is one of my interests.

Beyond that, I have no idea how much I'll participate.

Thanks Randall!

No problem. I decided to add the amazon link to the front page version of the message, so I figured I might as well at it here since I had looked it up.

Mine is on its way.  I would like to participate.
I am the Goddess of Who I can Become. I mix the magic of the sorceress with the blade of a warrior. I walk the liminal pathways to see the face of the Goddess, both terrible and kind. As She stares back at me, I tremble in awe and ecstasy.  --SatAset

I won't be able to get the book in timme, but will be watching with great interest!  If I'm able to get the book before your discussions are over I'll try and join in.
You can also find my ramblings at my blog although I\'m not the best at regular updates.  I\'m working on fixing that. Or look for me on FB here or Google+ here. :)

Hi everyone,

Oh man, this is SO all about what I do. I'd love to participate, but I've got impending nuptials (stoopid wedding!)...we'll see if I can swing it...
The first song sets the wheel in motion / The second is a song of love / The third song tells of Her devotion / The fourth cries joy from the sky above
The fifth song binds our fate to silence / and bids us live each moment well / The sixth unleashes rage and violence / The seventh song has truth to tell
The last song echoes through the ages / to ask its question all night long / And close the circle on these pages / These, the metamythos songs
