Luck/Prosperity Mojo Bag
« on: October 03, 2011, 12:15:56 pm »
Hi there,
I am looking for a cheap way to make a mojo bag for luck for a few friends.
It would be nice if I could use items from around the house (candles, coins, etc).
Does anyone have any ideas of what I could put inside? I was thinking of making a Chinese luck knot as well.

Do you want to make a traditional Hoodoo style mojo bag or are you looking for something more eclectic?

Hi Randell
I would be very interested to know more about a traditional hoodoo bag for luck. I'm a traditional witch (british) and I have become very interested in hoodoo. I do find most magical folk traditions interest me a great deal. In my charm bags I tend to use a selection of herbs and roots and found materials such as pine cones. I usually go for a certain number of herbs and then a colour cloth which I will then simply tie together – sometimes with a certain number of knots – it depends what I am doing – Is this similar to how a hoodoo mojo bag is created? I am wanted to create something that draws luck and prosperity to my new business. Seem as I do my business on line I have begun gathering some herbs together towards my goals.

The best source online for Hoodoo info is Cat Yronwode's Luckymojo site. The "Hoodoo in Theory and Practice" area has a section on mojo bags:

Hi Randell Thanks for this link - looked at this a while ago now. But more at the herbs that were for sale then the information at the site. Very interesting. Yes charm bags and mojo bags are very different because of how they are awakened. I tend to rub oils into mine for a similar reason but I really liked how mojo bags are made
