In-laws' cat passed away tonight
« on: March 22, 2017, 02:47:25 am »
My MIL just lost her second cat in a few months; the first she had to put down in the fall, and tonight the second died. He'd been sick for a while with diabetes and they were treating it, but he was slowly deteriorating.

This is the cat I was rather fond of; he was my little writing muse. During Nanowrimo a few years ago he sat behind me on the couch and clawed me whenever I stopped typing. He was a chill ginger cat and a super loud snorer. His name was Willow.

The other cat, Xander, was a sweet cat to humans but a pain to Willow. I was less fond of him because he triggered my allergies the worst and didn't understand the concept of boundaries or personal space. Still, he was cute, and funny, and it sucks he's gone.

It's going to be really weird visiting the in-laws with the cats gone. They've been there the entire time I've been part of the family. I can't imagine my MIL without her cats.

Anyway, any prayers you want to send my MIL and FIL's way, or the way of the cat on his journey across the rainbow bridge, I'd really appreciate. I know that both of Mr. Morag's parental units could use some comfort right now. And I'm sure Willow would appreciate prayers that Xander doesn't annoy him when they're reunited in the afterlife.

It's taken me a little while to post this, but my thoughts are with each of you and the departed Willow & Xander.  I hope adjusting to the loss is going as well as can be expected for each of you, and that your wishes for harmony for Willow & Xander in the afterlife are fulfilled.

Hanging my reply here.

Thanks, everyone. We saw Ogre's parents on Saturday night. MIL is doing okay; FIL is doing a bit worse. Willow was really his baby in the way Xander was hers.

It's really weird being at their house without any furballs, though. For as long as I've known Ogre and his family, those 2 cats were there, so. House feels very empty.

But they had long, happy lives, and they both went peacefully, which is really all we can ask for.

Also, I told MIL about my post here and she really appreciated the prayers, so. Thank you all again. <3
