Mini Brigid Altar
« on: February 23, 2017, 02:53:06 pm »
So I was browsing through a local pottery shop and I found these:

The base is technically a coaster. The little figure is a "kiln goddess"; apparently potters make them to use up leftover bits of clay. The shop owner's teenage daughter makes them for their shop. The coaster was made by the shop-owner's son, who is selling them to raise money for college.

I've been wanting to make a little bedside altar for evening prayers, and have been hunting in vain for a figure I felt satisfactorily represented Brigid for me. This is basically perfect.

I'm not in the Cauldron Cill, but I am in the Clann Bhride Cill that was started by some Cauldron members. :) I saw the thread title and had to see it. I love it! It seems like a really meaningful and minimalist way of representing Brighid. It's really cute. :)

Aw thanks! I love it. I was finding that Brigid figures are either not what I was looking for or way expensive, and this was perfect. Plus I got to support a couple young artists, which was cool. :)

People who aren't in the Cauldron Cill are welcome to participate in the public threads in the TC Cill SIG! In particular, it makes sense that Clann Bhride folks would be interested in reading and posting here.

And, Sorcha, that really is pretty much perfect! The kiln goddess is glazed in just the right shade of blue, IMO.

I thought so too! I couldn't believe it when I walked in and saw her.

This is so incredibly cool! I haven't set up an altar in my new place yet. I'm waiting until all of my things are here. Once that happens you have given me some inspiration. :)

Aw thanks! It's really been working out well. I use it for my prayers I say right before I go to bed. :)
