Thanks to any and all who make this Board possible, and kudos to those with the patience to take care of it.

Glad to have stumbled across this Board; I haven't participated in one since old MSN days.  I've been a practicing Solitary for about 10 years now; I stopped counting those first few years when image was ... well, another story for another time.  I'm am here to learn and to hopefully, eventually share.  I will confess upfront that I'll enjoy actual conversation and discussion about topics that interest and fascinate me rather than my usual necessary MO of having to keep the tucked tidily in the cupboard. I'm disabled so I "don't git out much" (said in exaggerated Southern drawl), and real voices are actually superior to reading books and imagination, most of the time.

I'll try to get the Profile properly fleshed out since I'm sure this intro, like most gatherings, will be the usual barely remembered "hunh"? within seconds.  Also, please do accept my apologies, Mods, if this intro is too wordy.  I'll get the hang of this group of folks with lots of reading and observation before I start clogging up threads.H

Oops...Soory, Morag, habit.  The glaucoma and cats have me ENLARGING everything.  I did read the rules, swear I did!  Seriously...it's just habit to ENLARGE everything for the round trip. Baaad SS.  Thx for the welcome.  Good folks here.

One of the reasons we ask people to keep the default font is so that people who use accessibility tools on their computers can do so without having to constantly rearrange things.

There are some great tools out there that can enlarge things for you to the size that works great for you - your browser may already have some built in, or there are plugins for a lot of things (before you even get to specialised software.) If you want help figuring some out, feel free to post what browser and operating system you're using, and I'm betting people can give you some suggestions.

(Also, I should mention that if the colours on the forum don't work as well for you, there are some alternate themes if you go into Settings (top right corner of your browser window should have a link) and then to "General Settings". The different colours are called "Forum Skins" and you'll have to save the setting and reload the page to see what they look like.)

Thx Morag! You're the first to take the time to work with me.  I'll check it out.  I didn't even know about any special accessibility tools; hearing tools, yes, seeing, nope.   I just kept enlarging my own print (well, until iPhone ran out and it got ridiculous anyway) and wear stronger glasses.  Now, I'll get on the prowl for affordable or, better yet, free, downloads.  Thx again!

Thanks to you gentlefolk who stopped by to offer a warm hello.  (Singing the old beachie smile-maker - yes, showing her age - "Good Vibrations" under her breath as she rolls away happy)

Thanks again, folks.  It's a good day.

Sorcha 😊 You're a darling, but you just may have me confused with someone else?  Dang it!

Oh, whoops! I misread when you said that you hadn't participated in *a board* as *this board*. Lol. Well, I'm glad you're here either way!

Hi, Simply Solitary, and welcome to TC!

A Reminder:
Just a quick note:  Please remember to quote, even if you're just  replying to the first message in the thread.  It makes the discussion  easier to follow, and it's required by  our  rules. (If you're using tapatalk on a phone, please hold your finger down on the message you wish to reply to until the quote function pops up.)

I'm guessing that you figured your post counted as a reply to everyone - a collective thank-you to all the people who've welcomed one in one's intro thread often does, but in this case you're responding directly to others' posts, which means you should quote them. You can do this by choosing the one you're making the most substantive reply to (in this case that would be either Jenett's or Morag's - you thank Morag, but it appears to me to respond to what Jenett said) and including other direct replies just by mentioning the person by name.

You can also do it by quoting each post using the 'multiquote' button (it's an opening double quotation mark with a plus sign ["+], at the bottom right of each post; click it for each post you're responding to - it's especially important when you do this to make sure you trim the text of each quote to the minimum necessary), or by responding to each one separately - we generally prefer a separate reply for each post, and don't have any rules against 'doubleposting' (more than one post in a row).

This isn't a formal warning, just a reminder.  No  reply is necessary, but if you have questions or need clarification,  please feel free to contact a member of staff privately.

Thanks!
