Happy Ex-Pat Thanksgiving!

In lieu of having the grand dinner, I shall name some things I am thankful for.

1. I am thankful that the Cubbies won the world series. It was about damned time. I don't even really care about sports and I'm still happy for them.

2. I am thankful that my pet bird seems happy and enjoys doing stuff with me. He's a good buddy, tho I wish he would use his words noises more and use his beak less.

3. I am thankful for naps.

4. I am thankful that I realized this year that 'serious' people can have brightly dyed hair. Business in the front and party in the back, baby.

5. I am thankful that stevia-sweetened chocolate bars exist.

No doubt the truth can be unpleasant, but I am not sure that unpleasantness is the same as the truth.  — Roger Ebert

Thank you, Randall!

I will continue the trend and name the things I'm thankful for. :)

1. My perfect, healthy son. We are currently watching the parade. I think he likes the muppets. :)

2. My best friend. Seriously, she's the best.

3. Financial stability, work security, and a stable place to live.

4. My cat!

5. Freedom, and my messy, complicated, beautiful life. My

6. Friends, coworkers, and other earth angels

7. The ability to work from home

8. The Blessed Goddess, and her help finding my personal power

9. Used books

10. Weekends. Seriously, people fought for that time off.

Happy Thanksgiving, everyone!

I'm thankful first and foremost that my roomie made it home safely from his deployment last night, but I'm also thankful for:

- my wonderful fiancé, even though he's sometimes an ass

- my furbaby, even though she's sometimes an ass as well

- the fact that I'm physically capable of working two jobs and making enough money to support myself

- my bosses for putting up with my shit and not firing me. Seriously I don't know how they do it.

Happy Ex-Pat Thanksgiving!

*high-fives Ex-Pat Thanksgiving*

We're actually doing dinner this year! Mainly because we picked up an extra turkey at Canadian Thanksgiving in case the in-laws didn't get enough turkey (this happened one year and those of us who eat turkey -- SIL and MIL don't -- were NOT happy) and we ended up not using it then. So I'm cooking it up on Saturday, hopefully, and we'll have stuffing and scalloped potatoes. And I might even clear off the dining room table so we can have our first meal on it (ha ha, no, this is not going to happen).

What I'm thankful for:

1. A really great first year of marriage. We survived the bucket of stress that was last year's flood + wedding, and the bucket of stress that ALL OF 2016 has been + this year's flood, so. I think we're doing alright.

2. Husband's health insurance covering me. I might actually not die by the time I'm 40 because I am finally able to get all those pressing health needs looked after. Huzzah!

3. Coffee.

4. The Water Protectors at Standing Rock. Grateful for their bravery in standing up for all of us and the future generations. If I could be there helping out, I would be. Am praying for them all.

5. Also grateful for all those standing in solidarity with Standing Rock across the world, and especially those standing against pipeline interests here in BC.

6. Journaling. Recently started it up again and I'd forgotten how important it is to me.

7. Am really super grateful that I no longer have to deal with shitty family situations at the holidays. The stresses of in-laws and my mom are so minuscule compared to what I used to have to go through with my bio-sire and step-families. So I'm grateful to myself, for having the courage and continuing to have the courage to keep the bio-sire out of my life.

8. Last but not least, my husband (yes, I already said I was grateful for our first year of marriage, but this is me being grateful for him and however the heck he came into my life, because, seriously, best gift ever Aphrodite, thank you). He's an arse, but he's my arse. (And not-so-secretly, I like that he's an arse.)
Pray drunk. Hex sober.
