The First Debate: Clinton vs. Trump, round 1

Just leaving this here so it's ready for us to all wail and scream in tomorrow night. What are your predictions? And how epic, or not (and/or important, or not) do you think this is going to be?
The first song sets the wheel in motion / The second is a song of love / The third song tells of Her devotion / The fourth cries joy from the sky above
The fifth song binds our fate to silence / and bids us live each moment well / The sixth unleashes rage and violence / The seventh song has truth to tell
The last song echoes through the ages / to ask its question all night long / And close the circle on these pages / These, the metamythos songs

Not backing either of em, so I'll be watching this one for sheer entertainment.  Fully expecting Cheeto Jesus to be his bloviating assholish self, and of course the Sea Hag will do her best insincere politician impression.

US politics used to be absurd theater.  Now, thanks to the rise of Orange Voldemort, it's devolved to the level of reality TV shit-show.

The 4th wall is down.  There're tribbles rutting on the bridge.  The two-party system has jumped the shark.  We've gone to Defcon Dumb.

Not sure whether I'll be chasing the debate with popcorn, whisky, or both.

(edit: I kinda miss the Angry Lawn Gnome. Didn't much agree with him, but damn, idealism and integrity are rare commodities.)

I'll be voting for Gary Johnson! I'm sick of the two party system, with it's either or bull crap! Won't watch, because I can't stand hearing either of them speak!

Why Donald Trump Should Not Be President
by the Editorial Board of the NY Times, from yesterday's paper:

It won't tell you anything you don't already know if you've been paying attention, but it's a focused summary.

How epic this first debate is not what I wish to comment on. I feel that Mr T Rump is going to win the election and then ruin the USA. He'll try "You're fired" on the congress and it will go down hill from there.  We did a ritual to cleanse the hearts of the rabid right voters, but that probably won't be enuff to matter.

I hear my man is getting his ass kicked in the debate, and is generally being slovenly.

le sigh.

She clobbered him on birtherism, which was well deserved.

He's being a bully & blowhard.  And the mod is letting him get away with it.

I'm ashamed this is the best US conservatism can produce.

... you were expecting something different?  I thought you had higher political awareness standards than that.  Genuinely surprised here.

I was hoping he would actually act presidential. Sadly, our hopes rarely materialise.

Clinton - 1
Trump - 0

It wasn't a knockout, but it sure was a blowout.

Do you likewise hope he'll change between no and 11/8?  By Jan 2017?  Over the next 3-8 years of his term(s)?  Because it's his 'refreshing' approach that's gotten him where he is.

Were you maybe hoping he'd morph back to his pro-gressive, pro-choice, pro-Hillary self, circa 2008?

I mean, you could hope for a kosher ham and cheese sandwich, too.

i'd call it a win for HRC, too, narrowly; and Trump's assholishness actually helped her.

Personally, I found myself nodding & facepalming over both of em, in roughly equal measure.

Three questions that should've been asked, but weren't:
1) Mme Secretary, what would happen to anyone else who did what you did, according to the Director of the FBI?
2) Mr. Trump, isn't there a current rape case against you?
3) Why isn't Gary Johnson on the stage?
