Sun tea is the best.  Lipton black unsweetened.

I like to blend teas, too.  F'ex, put in 5 bags Earl Grey and 5 bags mint in a 1 gallon jug.    Add 1/3 to 1/2 cup of sugar.  (Won't make it too sweet, but will punch up the flavor.)  Give it at least 3 hours in full sun.  Let cool and serve over ice.  Mmmmm.

That sounds like something to try ... though looking at your new avatar is making me suspicious about the results.

(It's sold ready made and bottled as well, which is good for meals out.)

Not on this side of the pond, alas. I found the syrup at the natural-food store, but at the major chains? Nothing.

Anyone want to start a campaign to make elderflowers the next superfood fad?

I used to work at a juice & smoothie bar and one of my favorites was wonderful for really hot days. I don't make it too often anymore, but on days that I'm up for using the juicer at home (and cleaning it all up :whis:), I do still sometimes make it.

- 1 or 2 carrots
- 1/2 of a lemon
- 1/2 of an apple
- chunks of watermelon

I put the ingredients through the juicer, with as much watermelon as needed to fill up the glass or container. Watermelon will make up about 1/3 to 1/2 of the juice for me, but you can adjust the proportions to your liking. Sometimes I will also blend it with a banana and ice in a blender if I want a thicker consistency. Now if only I had some watermelon at home..

That does sound good. Now I wonder if my immersion blender will fit in my pitcher. Hmm....

I guess there's not an abundance of hipsters in Eastern Ontario, huh? Elderflower is everyyyywheeeere here. (I am not complaining, I quite like it.)

Elderflower apparently quite big in Italy too, as I saw (and tried) a Lemon and Elderflower Fanta while on vacation. Really enjoyed it, and I don't normally drink soda- probably because in the US it's all artificially flavored corn syrup garbage.

I think the Whole Foods has a whole bunch of elderflower stuff, but I don't go there often because it's too easy to go over budget on groceries there.

For myself, my tastes run different than most, mainly due to a medical condition I have called POTS (Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome) that requires I have a higher-than average salt intake to keep my blood volume up. I've taken to drinking my salt, putting about a half to one teaspoon of sea salt and a big splash of lemon juice into a 32-ounce water bottle that I then chug throughout the day. It's basically homemade gatorade without all the sugar.

I guess not. Or else I'm not spending enough time in specialty-food stores.
