Re-introducing oneself
« on: May 28, 2016, 07:50:22 pm »
Hi. I've been away for a few months due to needing a break and I feel ready to come back. Still a polytheist that works with a combined Slavic/Norse cosmology devoted to Veles. Mostly trying to figure out where to go from here in my practice, though I have been talking to a few other people devoted to Veles on tumblr.

I've found that I need to what I've been calling "heart work" because apparently heart is /not/ a lame power after all. I'm not calling it shadow work because it feels...different than what I usually call shadow work, though I imagine one could argue that it is a subset of shadow work. Heart work seems to define it more clearly however.

So hello again and glad to see you!

Welcome back! I don't know very much about Veles, but it sounds interesting I'd love to know more.

Welcome back! Is heartwork more communal or restorative than shadow or something?

It's more healing, though Shadow work can be healing too. Perhaps it's because the heart deals more with learning to love oneself rather than dealing with the fears that one buries deep down. Perhaps the heart stuff is what you need to do with the fears that one unearths in Shadow work. Hence why I wondered if it was a subset of Shadow work, but perhaps it is a step of it.

Neat! I thought I discovered something earlier this year that I called mirrorwork, related to shadow in that that was more about confronting effective hypocrisy than confronting personal feelings of pain or fear, but didn't get too far into it because that would have been communal and I was kind of a misanthrope. :p So it's interesting to read about more forms of the thing.
