Curriculum Drafting?

If you could draft a curriculum that was uniquely centered on your religion, of any classes, what would you pick?

You have seven slots to fill. ;)

In order to ensure, that I have understood a question asked in a foreign language correctly, I wonder: Do you mean a reading list of introductory literature?

Just realized a little clarification to that might be helpful. F'ex, Intro to Hedgewitchery, Biology, Creative Writing, Classical Cultures, etc

Oh. Was it seven? I think I had eight on my Druidic list.

And for Late Imperial Classical Syncretism:

  • History and Archaeology: 3000 BCE to 600 CE
  • History of Literature: 850 BCE to 600 CE
  • History of philosophy
  • Rhetoric studies
  • Social studies: Practical citizenship
  • Ethics: Virtue ethics
  • Practical theurgy for beginners

I'll do a slate for all the religions I'm considering:

PCP Imperial Cult:

The Emperor: Man, Myth, Deity
Practical Psalmistry and Liturgics
History of the Imperial Cult and Creed
Iconography for Beginners
Faith under Fire: an Introduction to Theodicy
Orthodoxy and Heterodoxy: a beginning guide
Cosmos and Cosmology: drafting myth and rite

Judaism:

Jewish Philosophy: Maimonides to Heschel
Zionism: an impartial primer
Practical Rabbinics
Souls on Fire: Hasidic Theology from the Baal Shem Tov to the Lubavitcher Rebbe
Torah and Knowledge: Modern Orthodoxy in history and practice
Jewish Radicals: Kaplan, Schachter-Shalomi, and the alternative Jewish spirit
For the Sake of Heaven: The Jewish Enlightenment and Liberal Judaism

Ahmadiyya:

The Quran and Proper Exegesis
Beloved of God: the Prophets, from Ibrahim to Ahmad
The Khalifat: Institution, History, and Re-emergence
Jihad of the Pen: Mission and practical apologetics in Islam
The Mahdi: the Life of Mizra Ghulam Ahmad
Islamic History from Hijrah to the fall of the Ottoman Caliphate
True Islam: the contemporary history of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community

More to be added later.

Nothing to be sorry about. I don't know anything about Eastern European systems of education, and I find the one in UK hard to navigate (though I guess our systems are closer to each other now, due to the Bologna process). And I have never really been able to remember when Americans leave high school and begin college. We have a lycée after secondary school and before university, so the age spans are different.

When I think about it, it is possible that the Bologna process only affect university education, not pre-university education, which would explain why primary school, secondary school and the equivalent of lycée seems to be so different from each other in different parts of the EU. The French have some sort of lycée, and England had something called Sixth Form in the past, but I don't know if educational reforms have reshuffled that.

I'd have to do a lot of research to figure that out! Maybe I'll have time next month...

Okay, so I've been chewing on this, and some of it is more complicated than you'd expect.  I mean, even if you expected my answer to start with, "So... which religion?" which it does.  And a lot of this is rather lacking in proper high school courseworkness, being light on the sciences and such.  So, many answers:

Strict Kemetic

* Egyptian Religion and Culture
* Egyptian Archaeology and Artifacts
* a foreign language (I don't care which one, but French or German will be most useful for budding Egyptologists)
* Literature and Cosmogenesis: a course in exploring the active role literature takes in shaping, creating, and moulding human experience
* Civics 101: How Does Government?
* Symbol and Psychology: exploring how symbolic work affects the psyche
* either:
- Introduction to Academia: how to read academic books, an overview of the nature of intellectual discourse, study of some of the ways ongoing arguments in the field happen
- An art course (music composition, music performance, dance, creative writing, poetry, sculpture, architectural design, painting, etc.)

Craft-Related

* Cultural and Folklore Studies (Of A Specific Culture) or Local History and Pre-History That Does Not Gloss Over Colonisation Effects
* World Religions: An Overview Covering More Than The Abrahamics
* Fairy-Lore and Fairy-Faith Both Before And After The Victorians
* Philosophy of Science
* Pick one:  Ecology, Geology, Agricultural Studies, some science having to do with the land
* A Social History of Liberation: the Magic and Politics of Escaping Oppression And Seeking Power
* An art course

Pop-Cultural

(Some of these are probably semester courses rather than full year, really.)

* Art as Political and Social Transformer: A Sociological Overview
* Science and Science Fiction, or "Where is my Flying Car?"
* Literature of the Fantastic
* Protest Songs, Rallying Hymns, and Subversive Rock and Roll
* Philosophy and Theology of the Discworld
* Superheroes And Other Explorations of Id and Identity
* If You Build It: Spiritual Constructions in Second Life, Minecraft, And Other Games

To do something for what I do is more of a college major than a year in high school though. ;)  It'd almost certainly handle all the distribution requirements for a US degree....

(I'm working on the coursework for that, but figured I'd throw this out first for fun.)
