You have Roman Catholic monasteries in US, too. The one most well-known to the public is probably Abbey of Gethsemani, Kentucky. Thomas Merton, who was a monk there and one of the pioneers for inter-religious dialogue, is probably the most famous member of that monastery. He died in 1968.

Well, I used to say, "If I weren't a (Fundamental Baptist, oof) Christian, I'd be some sort of nature-worshipping pagan...."

....aaaaaaand here I am.

Nature and the natural world have always drawn me, and I'd go to Celtic Festivals (which were acceptable; the Fairy Festival, et al. were seen as more suspect, possibly pagan, and therefore dangerously close to devil worship) and see all the Green Man stuff and feel this little tug of... something. Wishing that my faith were more connected to the magic I felt in nature, etc.

But now? I dabbled in Buddhism just a little, and still do yoga fairly regularly, so if I hadn't found neo-druidry, I'd probably have gone with that at least as a practice if not a religion. I do still practice my Christianity in a fairly non-orthodox sort of a way, so yeah.

I think I would probably be a heathen, if I wasn't an Irish Polytheist. I have Viking ancestry quite far back so it would probably have been the natural alternative for me.

If not pagan, I'd likely be Buddhist as I find it quite interesting!

Hmm..good question. Myself I was not raised under any particular religion; my parents had religion forced on them as children and resented it so they gave me the freedom to choose.

However if I was to settle on one I think it might possibly be Shintoism.

If I wasn't pagan, I think I would probably be a Buddhist. Alternatively, had things gone differently when I was a teenager, I might be a Jew today.

Probably Kemetic as they were the first deities I really had interaction with in a meaningful way.

(I was really, really into Ancient Egypt as a little one.)

Aw, hell.  I dunno.  

My personal religion has been in flux for years.  The day it stops flux-ing is the day I stop learning and growing.  

Right now I'd be somewhere between mystical Catholic and gun-toting Wiccan.  Last week, I would've been something akin to evangelical.  

A week before that I might've been pretending to be an atheist.  Again.

I have a really hard time fitting myself into a box. So... if I wasn't a green witch with a little buddhist-y vibe, I'd probably lean more towards being a more exclusive Buddhist -- I get torn on what kind tho... Vajrayana, maybe so I could still do some ritual?

This might very well be me as well (though with me it was merely a sense of connection as opposed to actual interaction).

I looked into Shintoism and Taoism for a while in my early twenties too, so possibly one of those.

I would be a chill atheist or apatheist.  My attitude would towards theists be "I think you're wrong about the whole god thing, but believe whatever you want as long as you don't try to push it on me."

I'd probably still be agnostic atheist, or an agnostic theist.

I'm fairly certain I would have killed myself by now. I was incredibly lonely and did not feel there was a place for me in this world.

I'd probably be a Heathen mystic or Neo-Druid. I do find Heathenry/Asatru quite appealing to be honest.
