Oven blessing next month
« on: January 15, 2016, 08:01:15 am »
I have never been able to have my oven blessed in early February.

As far as I know, neither Nova Roma nor Res Publica Romana have appointed any Curios. I am not a member of any of these denominations, anyhow, and I live far away from any other cultor.

How does other lay cultores observe the Fornacalia-season before the fires go ut?

I have a related question to my former one:
Does the use of spelt roasted in an unblessed oven make a spelt-sacrifice invalid? Perhaps better to stick to libations and incense then?

Perhaps a piaculum to Fornax performed by the stove during Fornacalia-season could be a solution? By doing so, I wouldn't claim an office I do not have (curio), nor neglect the festival entirely?

Think of what Romans living outside of Rome would do. Would citizens outside of the be subject to rites that were inherently based on what neighbourhood in Rome you lived in? Would it pertain to them? Even if they were other Italians, I don't think it would necessarily apply.
Alternatively, do as those who were un-sorted into curia or didn't know to which curia they belonged did: on the Quirinalia, the last day of the Fornacalia season, make amends and bless yer oven.

Thank you. That is good advice.
